I've been mostly pumping, she latched sometimes, but now she refuses to. Any advice to get her to breastfeed? (She's almost 2 months) I'm so tired of pumping and washing bottles all the time.
I noticed skin to skin at night helps, but she still only latches for a few seconds..
I tried for 30mins, she cried.. would latch for a few seconds and cry again. She then fell asleep for like 20 mins and I tried again for 45mins and the same thing lol I really think she'd rather starve herself. @krystalee
@krystalee, a friend of mine said it'd take her son 30 mins sometimes, but I hate seeing her that upset. Plus I feel like she'd starve herself before latching lol I'll try it though! Thank you!
The answer is simple. Doing it is the hard part. Whenever she demands you supply. Just offer her the breast only. Keep trying. If u get frustrated she can feel that so relax and breathe. If she doesn't latch it's ok she'll be fine just keep trying.
I think that's a great plan. BF her at night and offering your beasts after feeding her a bottle. Baby steps. She will get there. No body tells you how frustrating it is. Only that "breast is best" but it's hard work!! You gotta just stick to it.
@mommakaz, I also read forcing them to take the breast will make them stop (in my situation) so when/how should I try to breastfeed? The only time I've gotten her to is night time. should I keep trying at night and hopefully I can only bf during the night and then work on day time?
Or offer bf after feeding her a couple oz to see if she won't be so angry lol
@bqueen, @mommakaz she won't even use the shield anymore. I have an almost 1 and a half year old so the cuddling with baby and skin to skin 24/7 isn't possible lol (I ready on kellymom they need a lot of skin on skin to get back to the breast) it's frustrating. I try to calm her before I bf, she just screams and screams even expressing milk to have her taste makes her mad
( If you're using a bottle then its because she is getting a faster flow with that rather then your breast. You can try a nipple shield so the flow is faster then wean her off) kellymom.com bellybelly.com
Keep on trying. it can be so frustrating but it does get better. Don't use a pacifier too close to feeding time. Switch breasts multiple times. Also squeeze your breast so the nipple is the same as the same shape as the baby's mouth. And express some milk out before she larches so she tastes the milk. But mostly just keep calm abs patient. it takes determination
