It was, it hurt to see him in so much pain but I knew it was to make him better even if he couldn't understand but we made it through together😊 I'm really thankful he didn't need surgery! @janae_

Super late but his face has finally healed he has the scars tho. They said that the infection was so close to his eye that he was at risk for losing sight in his eye and that if it didn't get better they were going to have to surgically clean it. It started to scan over but they had to open the scabs because his cheek was filled with puss and a lot of it. he ended up not getting the surgery because he was healing at a good pace and they let us go home after a week. He got antibiotics, IV, pain killers so I'm blessed everything worked out ok. Those who were wondering the dog was not put down, we tried suing because this isn't the first time that dog has attacked. When the owners brought him home he attacked one of the other dogs, the dog later on attacked one of the workers who came to replace the Windows, than tried eating newborn puppies(belonged to the owner who owned the dog that bit my son) than attacked the mother and put a gash in her head but she's ok now, than not too long after attacked my son. Our case was denied and the dog was brought back to the animal shelter they got him from but did not tell them the reason why they were bringing him back just lied and said that they couldn't watch him anymore. I'm pretty pissed but as long as my baby's away from that dog and is ok it doesn't matter to me anymore. Don't ever use peroxide on any type of wound it kills the surrounding cells always use alcohol it is better for wounds

@bybbas157, definitely take him in. Any dog bite should be looked at. He will probably be put on antibiotics at the last. Mine was on them for 10 days, they cleaned and wound and closed it (since its on his face to limit scarring). Good luck!

yes! take him to ER. my uncle got a bone infection from a dog bite. the dog was current on ALL of his shots too. that makes no difference. dogs have bacteria in their mouths!!

Anytime something like that happens you should always go to the pediatrician or ER. Infection can set up quick.

If it is swollen red and feels hot without touching it than yes go in. It's a sign of infection. Since you said he hasn't been acting like his normal self warns a sign of infection also. I would try urgent care first. I hope LO feels better

I wouldn't even be asking this mom app when it comes to something as SERIOUS as that. a dog bite isn't a question to be asking moms on here or even to wait to take your son to the er. like another mom said it's better to be safe than sorry. hope he feels better soon.

please take that baby to the er its better safe than sorry even if it is nothing at least you'll feel better they'll give him pain medicine and antibiotics so he'll feel better as well @bubbas157

Did she know that it's from a dog bite? He absolutely needs antibiotics at a minimum. Dog bites always require medical attention because of the bacteria. Poor baby! 😰
