Please don't Mom shame me but I'm trying to quit smoking cigarettes for my children's sake. I'm struggling this time around. A lot of stress. Anyone know some safe ways to quit or advice. And if u have something negative to say go suck a fat one bc I don't pass judgement and don't expect it back
I heard (never tried) that if you eat grapefruit or use grapefruit essential oils, cigarettes will start to taste bad and you'll want to quit faster. I quit the day before we found out and haven't had any cravings this go round, but I hope that helps!
I started smoking lighter cigarettes and just one day didn't want them anymore. I did cold Turkey with both but that's bc my body just didn't want it anymore
Thank you ladies bc I quit with my daughter but I hadn't got "addicted" to the habit til a couple months after being under so much stress. And honestly with her when I got stress I bought a very tiny bong and would have a hit not everyday just when I felt beyond overwhelmed and she came out perfect. Now I'm just trying to eliminate them. But yes I've heard other doctors say quitting cold turkey can do more harm than help @imhermomduh @halliekay @arivera64
18 mg of nicotine is a good area to start in for about a pack a day smoker - you can go up in mg or down if its too much or too little. Then you can step down on the dosage a little at a time.
Have you thought about using an electronic cigarette? I worked at an ecig shop for about 3 years and we had a lot of people come in from dr referrals, even pregnant women. Makes it a little safer if you're off real cigarettes and only using e-liquid with nicotine. Aim for liquids with few ingredients like propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, flavoring and nicotine.
Thank u. I've just been decreasing the amount bc when I try cold turkey I get sick so I haven't bought a pack in a week just 2 cigs here and there so maybe 6-8 cigs a week instead of 2 packs a week @mekenna1018
My doctor told me it wasn't good to go cold turkey anyways. Just count how many you smoke a day and try to eliminate 1 a week. Sometimes days will be stressful and it's understandable. Morning sickness will help you quit also. You can do it! Don't worry about negativity- you're doing the best you can. Also maybe if you get the urge- drink cold water, chew gum- do something to make you forget you ever wanted one.
talk to your doctor about nicotine replacement (gum and patches) its not normally recomended but its better than smoking.
My SO has been struggling too. I know he found cigar type cigs that have no nicotine in them and smokes those instead. You could get a vape pen, and use very low nicotine until you can quit. The nicotine gum and patches. Quitting cold turkey is hard. One thing you could try, is just every time you feel the urge, replace it with something else and try to distract yourself. I went cold turkey and OMG!! was horrible. but I started to have complications with my pregnancy. try the patch or gum that's what my doctor advised good luck
