@rainbow0601, no I clearly asked what was the earliest I could put lotion and powder on a newborn. I didn't ask whether I should or shouldn't. Please reread my post. I never asked for ur life history or where u worked to tell me what recommend probably by ppl who don't have children. The government is fucked up in many ways u think I'm going to let them tell me what I can and cannot put on my kid? No. I'll ask my pediatrician for his advice. But I never asked for urs.

My goodness @anthonysmommie080116 you posted asking opinions and advice. We shared them. It increases the risk of a baby suffocating. If you choose to put your baby in that situation, that's your choice, clearly. Just saying why would you risk it? Different parenting styles. But unfortunately SIDS can happen to any baby, and is a death of a young baby typically caused by suffocation. Sorry you don't like the post I thoughtfully put together for you. Best wishes 🤗

@anayeli, lol thanks I just always wondered that. Ppl telling me about what the government say n shit n them inhaling it but I honestly think a baby has a bigger risk of dying from SIDS than inhaling baby powder

@starliightt, his bottom is what imma mostly use it for. Ever since I learned how to change a diaper which was so long ago they always taught me use baby powder on the baby's bottom ( old folks )

yeah, girl go ahead you're fine. if you want to be safe put the baby powder on your hands and put on your baby that way or put baby powder on the diaper before you put it on. 😄

No baby powder. I worked as an early childhood teacher for the US government. It very specifically stated powders were dangerous and sticks to their lungs. Even though people used it for years doesn't mean it's safe. That's the case for lots of things. Best to be safe ✔️. The government wouldn't bother listing it in a standard operating procedure if it wasn't true

Well you can research it, just because you personally don't know of someone who it happened to doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I'm just telling you what the experts recommend. Ask your pediatrician and see what they say.

@anayeli, the main area I would put baby powder on a baby is their bottoms

I just heard they can inhale the dust, I still use it once they are a bit older, I still use it on my son sometimes and he is almost 3

I used both the day I got her ready to leave the hospital. my baby was fine. usually they say wait on baby powder because of their young lungs but I think that's only if you use it excessively.

@klarrissab, @sarahdrew baby powder been around for many years and I have yet to hear of a baby dying or having lung problems from it.

I used it after we were out of the hospital, but I've never used baby powder, I just always put rash cream on them to keep their little bottom protected from the moistness, but if you do use BP make sure you don't use it when They get a diaper rash.

I use a little lotion on my babies as soon as they can have their first bath (once cord falls off) the powder I wait until closer to a year, at least I did with my son (still haven't started it with my daughter) since they can inhale the dust from it

The American Academy of Pediatrics advises not use baby powder anymore because they can inhale it in their lungs causing breathing problems and lung damage.
