So after breastfeeding for 6 days my right nipple is pretty much flat ☹️ why could this be ??? & what can I do go get it back to its shape ??? 😣 help me 🙏🏼
I agree with @dohmommy2016, try and get your baby checked for tongue and lip ties. Until then, a common way mothers with inverted nipples deal with this is to pump a little bit before nursing to draw out the nipple, then let the baby latch. As long as baby can get a good suction and latch, their constant sucking will keep the nipple drawn out! Please don't use nipple shields unless told otherwise by a professional, because it can be very hard to wean the baby off those in the future. Keep us updated!
see see lactation consultant to make sure baby doesn't have a tongue tie since that can happen when your child has a tie since they can't latch properly. Also I would wait to try a nipple shield until you see a lactation consultant since you don't want the baby to become reliant on only nursing with it.
@steppphh, inverted nipples? I would suggest buying a nipple shield that would help bring it out more. I know how hard it can be when you are trying to breastfeed and they go in. Also madela has little circled cups you can place your nipple in and it also helps. You might leak so you want to watch out for those cuz you literally have to empty it out often since they get full of milk since it's helping your nipple come out.
(If you don't have an electric or hand pump you can do this manually, just hand express and bit and pull the nipple out enough to get baby to latch)
