I did and I was fine until I got dehydrated and then they started showing up

yep. ..there is really not much you can do to stop them. I still moisturize my belly though because it relieves the itch from the stretching

I use palmers every day several times a day and still am getting stretch marks. Some people will get them no matter what but moisturizers do help.
