Ladies I really need your help! So tomorrow I'll be 9 days overdue and my midwife said I'll be induced on Wednesday but…

@amy101, I'm constantly walking everywhere now a days and I've also tried sex nothing is helping 😩. Thank you so much! I feel so much better after hearing you ladies your experience. I know a little of what to expect now rather than nothing xxx

I've just been induced on Tuesday evening, had my little girl yesterday morning. They started me with a 24 hr pessary that slowly releases a hormone to kick start contractions. If that fails and you have no contractions you may be offered the 6 hour gel, or the hormone drip. They wait to see if your waters break if not they will do it for you. Then contractions should start, along with the artificial hormones it should happen quite quickly.

It can take days or hours for contractions to start and be regular, so be prepared for lots of waiting around!! Good luck!

You never know though, you may go into spontaneous labour before then! Looks of walking, sex and anything else you can do to bring it on yourself!

@mullika91, My consultant booked an appointment at my last appointment there and then? She had to ring up! If nothing's been written down I'd ring your midwife just to double check? Just ring and ask what times it booked for!? Yeh labour and delivery, I've gotta ring and ask for the induction nurse or midwife or something! Just to make sure they've not had loads of emergency inductions! It's fine! There's nothing worse than not knowing what's going on!! The leaflets on that app go into a lot of detail about it so it really is worth a read!!xx

Hope it all works out for you like I said I don't no a lot about it as I was already in full labour when I was put on the drip think I was around 9cm so almost there anyway but can say for me the contractions didn't feel any worse after being put on the drip but I was nearly done and had her not long after that and they where oveusly close together as I was ready to push so think they should be ether way but I wouldn't worry your selfs as you both my not even need it @daniluvsdis @mullika91 xx

@daniluvsdis, omg after reading your message I let out a deep breath! How do you know you'll be induced on Tuesday? My midwife told me mine will be on Wednesday but she's not wrote it on my notes or anything to confirm, so I'm not sure. Plus does L&D stand for Labour and Delivery unit 😣. @mullika91, I don't think it's meant to be more difficult, just more intense/painful once your on the drip! Coz there giving you artificial hormones which makes the contractions more intense!xx

@mullika91, I'm being induced on Tuesday and I have been told to ring L&D at 7:30 in the morning to check there not over run! Then I'll go in. They'll feel and monitor the baby to make sure all seem healthy, then they'll perform an internal examination to see what my cervix is like! Then they'll put a propess in which is apparently like a tampon/pessary! That stays in for 24hrs & if nothing happens within 24hrs they'll break my waters if they can, then if breaking my waters doesn't get anything started they'll put me on the drip! This is what I understand will happen from what I've been told! If you download an app called pocket midwife & go to the leaflets section there's a couple of online leaflets you can read about the propess! It's written by the Nottingham midwives/hospital but I can't see it being much different! Hope this helps at all!?xx

@tresea, thank you Hun. I've not had any regular contractions so I'm not sure if it will be the same. I wish it was though because it doesn't sound as bad. I've been reading online and it says when induced it's even more difficult which just scares the hell out of me 😩 xx

Not sure if it will be the same for you as I had a weird experience but with me they just put me on a drip that started labour so other then the fact you'll be on a drip shouldn't be any different then if you where to go into labour nationally but like I said mine was different because I only went on the drip because my contracts stopped when I was nearly fully dilated but when I asked what was in the drip they just said that it was the same thing as being induced ppl so for me my contractions started back up where as for you it would start them off hope that helps xx
