Any ladies in Tucson know of a good affordable lactation consultant? I've been looking around and they're all so expensive.. Way more than I can afford 🙁 I can't get my baby to latch, so I've been having to pump in order for him to get breast milk. I want so badly to find someone to help and teach me!
They should be, I haven't checked myself yet since moving from Cali to Tucson a few months back...it sounds like he has nipple confusion, he is frustrated because he is used to the fast flow of the bottle and doesn't want to work and wait for the let down when nursing...it will take a LOT of patience but honest, if you work on the latch and just keep at it, you can train him to prefer the breast over the bottle again, you just have to get him to latch and nurse and cut out the bottles for a while...a LC can really help with that! I would bring that up as a possible cause and see what they say. You can also try pumping a little bit to get the flow started before latching him, and warm compresses, massaging downwards from your shoulder and armpits towards the nipple helps encourage the let down reflex to happen sooner...once he gets that let down I promise, he will most likely drink that up and be okay, because that faster flow is what he wants! Give that a try and let me know how it works!
I'll definitely contact WIC though! I didn't know they dealt with that! And I'll look up Le Leche League 🙂 are they in Tucson? @hellosweetie
Everytime I have tried to get him to take the boob, he tries for a second and then gets so frustrated and screams bloody murder 😫
Oh, wow!! I will definitely try that!! Thank you so much for your help!! I'm going to try it on his next feeding. I'm so desperate to get him on the breast. I've been pumping for him, but it's so much work 😞 it's worth it if that's what I have to do, but i would much prefer to feed him from the breast and have that bond with him. He's a month old now, is that too late? 🙁
