So I'm sitting here watching "The Talk". Questions: 1) Have you ever given or received parenting advice? 2) Have you ever been scrutinized because of your body?
As a new mom, of course I've received parenting advice. Some good, bad, and annoying. Seems like everyone has something to say especially the elderly and ones that DONT have children. This is MY child and while I do appreciate your advice, I'm going to do what I want and what I can to raise MY child.
We as women, especially pregnant women, are very sensitive when it comes to our body. If I've gained or lost weight, gotten lipo, breast reduction, implants, butt implants, etc. Why does it matter to you? I don't want to hear the negativity
@chill I really hope it gets better for you, and you sound like a strong woman who can not only put others in their place, but have the will power to do so respectfully.
I've been getting a lot of "advice" when it com s to my son. I've been trying to be nice and respectful but I'm VERY close to cursing someone out. Smh! And that's not the type of person I am. Just tired of it ya know? @yogabump It's a learning experience. Let us learn like how u learned. I haven't so much received any negative comments regarding weight or anything. It's more so me beating myself up about losing weight and getting in shape.
🙌🏼🙌🏼 heard it ALL girl. It was predicted I would "drag my son to the ditches." I've been criticized for taking him to church. I've been accused of being anorexic and bulimic and starving my baby. When I'm not pregnant people always have to comment, "you're so tall! You're so thin! You should eat! Must be nice. I would die if I wore those heels! Are those heels appropriate for a mother? You kiss your child with that mouth?" They aren't always compliments, more barely disguised contemptuous remarks. BUT, I've also had a LOT of encouragement and positivity and praise for the way I raise my son and the healthy choices I make with my body/pregnancy. I have to remember that the negative people... Maybe they don't have that kind of positivity in their lives, so it's all they know how to share
Thank you! I actually live in a different state than my family and my in laws so that makes it better. All the comments and "advice" comes when I try to be nice by sending videos and/or pics. Smh! @yogabump I hope it gets better for you too
