So we are buying my sister's plane ticket so she can come up when the babies are born. She can only stay for a week and since it's twins I feel like it's harder to pin down a date. My c-section is scheduled for August 30, when I'll be 38 weeks. At first she suggested that she come up the 16th bc no one thinks I'll make it to 38 weeks, but I brought up the fact that if she comes then she may miss their birth and have to go back before they're even born. So now we're thinking the 27th, the Saturday before. This way if I deliver on the 30th she'll be here for the delivery, she'll fly back out in 8 days on September 4th. So will only have 2 days with us at home. If we make it to 38 weeks. Sigh, such a dilemma! It was so much easier when we lived in the same state. The longer we wait, the more expensive it is and I'm not sure if there will be a cost to change the date. Has anyone planned something like this? Or have any other ideas?

I would question your doctor at your next apt or if it will be a while I would call and ask questions. then call the airlines. pm me if you need help finding flights. also Tue and wed are cheaper and less traveled dates. then call the airlines and question them. after you accumulate all your info you should be able to make a better decision. @beauandleosmom

@deckroth2001, I think that's what we got for our son when I sent him to Texas in June. He missed his flight and they tried to charge us extra to get a later flight. We argued that we were there in plenty of time, it was 6:25 and boarding started at 6:30 but we were already there at 5:30. It was Memorial Day weekend and there were not enough TSA agents or something so we didn't have to pay extra. They told us that they would 'waive' the fee just this once. Thanks for the advice, do you think I should stick with the date for now or change it for a later date when I'm already home from the hospital?

you can get a flight and buy trip protection. You are allowed to change the date with trip protection. there is still a fee and a fare price difference. I know it sounds confusing because it is. I worked for the airlines about 5 years ago. call the airline you are planning to get ticket from and ask alot of questions. each airline is different.@beauandleosmom,

@mommyof3littleones, every time we have booked a flight we've had to pay for it right then.

can't you book a flight without actually buying it? that way the price is locked in?
