LONG post - Anyone dealing with gestational diabetes and have prior food restrictions/aversions? I am such a picky eater and now I have to limit my "go to" foods. There are seriously too many things to list that I don't or can't eat, but the majors: wheat, pork, chicken, peppers, cucumbers, olives. Any advice? The foods I love (but need to limit) are fruits, granola type cereals, gluten-free pasta/breads, and treats like ice cream/chips/sweetened yogurt. I have been eating mostly omelets and salads since I found out, and I feel so grumpy and sad. I know sugars are part of the addiction piece of the brain...I guess I just need to power through. Any other meal tips are welcome!
I had it! My advice is to limit your carbohydrates a bit or have good portion control of the carbs you're eating. I was on Pinterest a lot at the time to look up low carb recipes for desserts and regular meals and survived through my pregnancy. Never go to sleep hungry! If you can't eat it then replace it. Good luck and have fun on Pinterest 😉
