no they tell you not to eat just in case you need an emergency c section. with any surgery if you have food in your belly it can cause you to aspirate which can cause pneumonia. that's why you can't eat. I had cervadil with my first and I had to do it twice bc the first time it didn't work. but I think they let me eat with that but once they start the potocin you can't eat anymore

It lessens the chance of you throwing up during labor. They don't want you throwing up and chocking/Inhailing it.

@mommagotbump16, @leighannexo I just don't understand the point fasting during. What good does that do?

I was only allowed ice chips. I had to stop eating before midnight the night before and only have clear liquids up until I started my induction.

Depends on your hospital. Most still have you fast the entire time except for maybe ice/water

Start to finish, from the first pill insertion to delivery was 14 hours. Technically around 13 3/4 hours, but who was counting? Lol. But yes, it was all within that 14 hour time frame.

@kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom, did you have your baby within those 14 hours or did it take additional hours after that?

I think I was like, maybe 4 hours into the induction process when I ate some jack in the box lol. Start to finish the induction process was around 14 hours long, the last 4-5 hours were the eventful ones. Everything else was a boring waiting game. Hopefully they let you eat.

@kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom, I hope so. They said they're going to keep it in me for 12 hours and then I'll start labor directly after. Idk If I could handle it well on an empty stomach😶

I ate. They got pissed at me, but I was hungry. Lol. I think originally they didn't want women to eat during the process but I think they changed those rules.
