QUESTION: Any mommas not use a bassinet or co-sleeper and go straight for the crib? I'm not knocking anyone who did both because I think if a lot of circumstances were different id probably be gung-ho about both, but I personally feel that for myself financially it's a waste to get a bassinet when the baby can only be in it until it's 15 pounds or so anyways when babies can be born anywhere between 5ish-8 pounds as it is and in the rare case weigh more than 8. Obviously she's not gonna gain a bunch of weight hella fast, but I'm still not convinced that babygirl isn't going to gain weight fast enough that a bassinet is worth it, and I know her dad is going to think a bassinet or co-sleeper is pointless (although he isn't living with us to have any real say in where she sleeping as long as she's safe which she obviously will be). My mom and aunt keep insisting on one and have this "I have kids so I know I'm right" mentality about it when they're not the ones who'll be shelling out the money for it, so I just want a little bit of an idea of what other mommies think.
@nicolekayo07, About 6. They were big babies and started off eating 4oz from hospital

@ceeasquared, do you remember how ma y ounces for 15 seconds?
I would literally just soak the bottle under scalding hot tap water. That's really the only alternative to using the microwave. In the middle of the night when I was exhausted I would pop their bottles in the micro for 15 seconds. They're 9 and 5 now and perfectly fine ;)
@jc100495, thank you! I think its well worth the $50 dollars from babies r us! and actually a friend of mine had bought both a bassinet and a rock n play sleeper and her little girl absolutely hates the bassinet and sleeps in her rock n play also! (I know it all depends on the baby but I'm so glad I didn't get a bassinet) and it also vibrates them too! @ceeasquared I have a bottle warmer and I absolutely hate it! we use the ready made formula,so once its opened it needs to be refrigerated. I hate that I have to wait for the warmer to warm the bottle, but our hot eater doesn't get hot enough to just warm it if I were to put it in a glass of water...how do you warm your bottles if you don't mind me asking..
@jc100495, I decided to do the pack n play and the smart connect rock n play for my twins my kids don't do bassinets or cribs so I think whatever is best for you...
@nicolekayo07, she's adorable!!! 😍 I'm definitely going to look into one of those to use for my room and my living room for however long she'll fit in one!! I had seen those but never really thought about them too much. Thanks so much!
Now that I'm on baby 3 I've learned there's certain things that are useless in my opinion, like bassinets, and wipe warmers (they just dry out the wipes), and bottle warmers (in the time it takes for the bottle warmer to heat up you can literally walk to the kitchen) lol
@mommytoaiden, @ceeasquared @bugmama @gor_jess @katarama @gallyzephie8715 @kellynicole @itsababyboy16 @reeney @alana_sunshine thanks ladies! It's definitely great knowing I'm not the only one that feels this way lol and that I won't be missing out by not having one. I'm definitely just gonna go straight for the crib for what I'll be purchasing myself and skip the bassinet, however I'll test the bassinet if anyone gets me one as a shower gift (which I doubt lol)
I'm in sort of a unique situation where we live with my partner's parents, and we don't have a separate room for the baby, so their crib will be set up in our bedroom in the basement for the first year of their life, and thanks to my social anxiety I prefer to stay downstairs as much as possible. I only go upstairs to eat and pee. We have a great set up with a trash can, fridge, and microwave down here so we're all set and I won't have a reason to go upstairs any more often with the baby since I'll be breast feeding and won't need to make bottles. So with our limited space, and the fact that other than getting out of the house every other day, all our time will be spent in one room, we really only need a crib.
we're doing both simply because a bassinet right next to me will help with those first few months of breastfeeding, and give me more peace of mind!
I love co sleepers but since it's my second baby and I didn't have much use for it after my daughter grew out of it now I decided to get a 4-1 convertible mini crib.. I can use it as a co sleeper next to my bed and turn it into a crib and later into a twin bed ..
I had a pack and play and crib for my son which I will now be using for my daughter as well. The pack and play is just convenient for next to the bed and I bring it with when we go to families houses or when we vacation. Also the pack and play will be convenient for when my husband is sleeping after chemo to have it downstairs in the living room for my mother in law so she doesn't have to bother my hubby.
I did both. With my son had bassinet and crib and with my daughter I did just crib as soon as she came home and that's when I learned the bassinet was a waste, in my opinion. With my daughter she went straight to the crib and I used a dock a tot to keep her secure
My baby is going in his crib. The nursery is right outside my bedroom no door or anything so I don't see why not because he's basically in the same room as me. @jc100495
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are...
the amount of women who are clueless about their own anatomy is so sad and shocking. a lot of the women are older than me and have more children then I do 😳
now I understand that everyone has their own opinion on the topic and grown adults can do whatever they want with their bodies but to deny facts and make up false statements about your own anatomy when it comes to your unborn child is just so disappointing.

So at work we have a drink thief. Any time we put a drink in the fridge it disappears. I swear I know who it is. So far he's taken drinks from everyone that works in the office, we even put a sign to not take anything you didn't pay for and wrote our names on the drinks. The person I think is taking them works out of the office so we never get to see who is drinking them.
Trigger. Lost baby
Went in for my 20 week check up and found out our son had passed away. Nothing was wrong, my pregnancy has been going great. I'm so numb right now. I'll he delivering him later this week. I don't want to do this. I don't want to do this. Not before Christmas. How am I'm going to tell my kids?? My dear sweet baby boy. Why did this happen?
@ceeasquared, thanks! I'm gonna try the microwave!
