Finally we have ordered everything we need that is outstanding and a lot of money later - changing table, baby monitor, flat sheets both for a cot and Moses basket, and a baby medical kit with baby thermometer and a changing bag . 200 pounds saved when my husband is on paternity leave as I'm sorry but 139 a week is pretty shit. I'm going to have to help him with what I get aswell. Unfortunately we have less saved that we wanted to for her but we needed these things hope we get that grant soon! We really need it and we need the child tax credits because I'm going to get a lot less next month - fretting over money :( xxxx we need the savings for her because we probably won't get these benefits for awhile I've been told :( on the bright side we have enough for our mortgage this month so we have a house! And a roof over our head and all our household bills have been paid and enough for our council tax I honestly don't know how we do it ! We are basically entitled to a grant of 500 pounds and about 400 pounds in benefits each month but can't apply for grant as our tax credits doesn't have a disability element but our child tax credits is higher than the family element so we basically can apply for the grant when she is here.. And the child tax credits
With a 2.1 degree hopefully I will be able to get one and our financial situation will probably change.
As much as I cared for the people I worked for.. I need to think what is best for Maybel and that is probably getting a graduate job. I just can't apply now as I'm due to have her soon. Will be looking at better jobs and ways to provide for my daughter.
It's not as if my partner I are lazy bums, we both worked up until I fell pregnant... We are just a low income family ... I'm not saying they do come for free...I wasn't silly either and have a degree and would really like a better a job.. I get that we are probably better off than some, but it still a struggle for anyone! @th123456789
It's a struggle regardless of whether your a single parent or a low income family
