IM FREAKING OUT! WHY IS IT NOT OKAY FOR MY 3 DAY OLD TO SLEEP THROUGH NIGHT?! (less than 8 hours) IM SERIOUSLY FREAKING OUT AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO ANSWER ME BEFORE I HAVE A FREAKING PANIC ATTACK.
If you didn't like what I said then you didn't have to reply to me. I gave my opinion just like everyone else
You don't need to be freaked out girl. Nothing is wrong with your baby. We are just trying to help give you the info that we have learned to be correct. Information not learned from the Internet, but by real medical professionals. But if you spoke to your pediatrician, that's all that matters. Don't stress!
I honestly don't care what you are saying ☺️ her dr said its okay so you're still upset why lol 🤔🤔
Actually I didn't go on google to find out this information I learned from the many, MANY nurses and doctors that I had while my baby was in the hospital, as well as my baby's pediatrician who told me until babies are back to their birth weight they should be woken up to eat every few hours. And as @sonya15 who DOES have a medical background unlike yourself said, a deep sleep can sometimes be dangerous for babies so young. I don't know who told you that waking a newborn up to eat will create bad sleeping habits, because it's just plain not true. Just because you let your baby sleep through the night at less than a week old and it didn't effect them or something doesn't mean that everyone should do it. @mommy_of_02
I called her Dr and they said it's fine if she sleeps through the night just to make sure I wake her every 2 hours in the daytime to eat. but now you guys have me so damn freaked out I'm gonna set alarms @sonya15 @mommy_of_02 @emkasting @mrssanderson
I did read the other post and didn't comment on that I was just answering the question here. Either way we both are trying to help her we just have different parenting views. Not on here to cause drama not what this is for @mommy_of_02
No not really. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I stated mine and y'all said something back...so why can't I reply. Just because I don't agree I'm arguing. She said she took her to the dr yesterday and that she was completely healthy. Read more than one post. She was excited about her child sleeping threw the night and y'all took her joy away and turned it into fear because it's unusual for y'all. And actually a pediatrician will tell you to not wake them up because it starts to create bad sleeping habits. To just monitor them but other than that they're fine.
Or maybe we just want them alive . And she didn't ask her pediatrician she ask us women on the Internet what we know about it. You're being unnecessarily argumentative @mommy_of_02
This isn't the first post so umm yea ok but it doesn't matter because honestly a pediatrician can tell most of the women on her that's it's okay and y'all will go on google or come on here and ask for other people's opinions and go by that. And no medical school told me anything. I actually listen to my dr other than a group of women in the internet that wants everyone else's child to be like there's. Soo yea...lol
Also I don't think either of us said to rush her baby to the hospital... So..
I'm in year 3 for my masters in Nursing. So.... I think my medical opinion is backed up with knowledge. Others are sharing their knowledge which are actual facts. She asked a question so whatnot tell her the truth and let her decide if she wants her child to sleep through or not. You cannot say it's safe bc while a lot if babies do and are fine there is a large percentage of babies that have passed due to sids in which studies have shown deep sleep is linked to.
@mommy_of_02, that's actually the complete opposite of what I've been saying. Not every baby is going to wake up every 2-3 hours which is why a parent should take it upon themselves to create a feeding schedule in which they wake the baby to ensure they're eating enough to get back to their birth weight. The risk is that babies that young are unable to store sugars to keep blood sugar where it should be... When they sleep for long stretches their sugars dip which makes them even more tired & they can actually get so weak (even while sleeping) that they don't have the energy to eat anymore. I'm not saying that's going to happen to every newborn who sleeps 4+ hours but it is a risk if the baby goes long periods of time without eating. Which is why MOST doctors say to wake baby for feeds every 2-3 hours until back to their birth weight
so what medical school told you it is okay for a baby that young to sleep through the night without waking up to eat? @mommy_of_02 it might be normal for a baby to sleep that long considering they need 16-20 hours per day, but it's not ok for them to go that long without eating. I don't need a medical background to know something they teach you in a basic childbirth class, thank you
No but why the hell should she sit her and freak out and question herself because people are telling her that she needs to rush her baby to the hospital because that's not what their baby did.... So every baby had to wake up and scream to eat every two to three hours...so that's what your saying @mrssanderson
@mommy_of_02, lol, so pretty much what you're saying is it's not okay for someone to warn her of the risks of having her baby go that long without eating, but she should listen to you tell her it's fine because that's what you did with your baby? 🤔
Stop freaking out because of what other people say that have no medical background. It is normal to sleep threw the night that young.
It's not bad. My daughter did it, it's "bad" because they go so long without a change of diaper or eating.
it's normal for them to sleep in different patterns some sleep all night some sleep for 3 hours. depends on the baby (:
People say they shouldn't because she could stop breathing but it's okay. Some babies sleep through the night from the time they're born.
It is okay! I know of many babies who have since day one. They say they typically won't sleep more than 5. It's a good idea to wake them because they say that when they fall into to deep of a sleep it increases the risks of sids because they don't know how to wake themselves to breathe if they're in to deep of a sleep.
So I thought my water broke... i was about to freak out... Im still sitting on the toilet trying to figure out if it was pee..
