That happened to me like 2 months ago and I thought I was pregnant but then AF came and I called and they said it was a defective/faulty test and they would send me a new one in the mail @mommypanda

it might mean there is something wrong with the test or too much pee got on it and malfunctioned...it's happened to me lol..that is saying to look at the info sheet...a new test will have to be done

You didn't use the test right is my guess. You can call the hotline tomorrow and see if they can send you a replacement test.
