Well, the law says rear facing until 1 at least. Some states have changed it to 2. (It's recommended until at least 2 now)

Some states by law require 2 yrs. Ideally child should be rear facing until 2 yrs whether its the law or not. In states where 2 yrs is not the law, child must be 1 yr AND meet the height and weight requirement

@mommagotbump16, @arivera64 I know what the laws are, I'm curious when other moms switched their children? And when you see others posting pics of a young baby forward facing do you say something or no?

my daughter is 15 months and plan to rear face past 2 years old...her carseat goes to 40 pounds rear facing and she's 23 pounds now so we have time lol.

I followed the laws and faced my children at the appropriate time. My first 2 were a yr old and my 3rd was 2 yrs old.

I do say something when i see it because some ppl are just clueless. I would feel guilty not saying something to at least try to help an innocent child

Ah. Well I had already changed my older son to a bigger seat around 9-10 months, put him front facing at 13 (recommendations were more widely publicized after we already had changed it). This one will rear face til 2 at least.

My daughter was 20 pounds even at her 9 month check up.

with my oldest two it was at 1 years old. With my youngest, we waited until she hit the highest requirements for her carseat (which is safest), but she hit that at about 11 months. Shes a big girl.

with my bean thats growing i will wait until he/she meets the height and weight requirements (max for rear facing). because even at 1 a baby could be huge or small. my oldest two were small and my youngest is huge. shes almost 1 1/2 yr fitting into 3t clothing

2 yrs old with my first and my youngest will go tell 2 or as long as we can afford a seat that goes to a higher weight. It's not about weight, height, or age. It's by bone maturity. CPST
