Breast feeding or pumping? what are your plans? pro and cons, I'm nervous to breast feed, so I want to try pumping once…

Pumping can make your supply drop.

But I'm worried if I breastfeed they will only eat for me and their dad won't be able too feed them.

You can always take classes, but I will be breastfeeding, its not as bad as ppl that are not educated say, it will hurt for the first latch, but not the whole time. I'm taking classes to prepare myself, it reduces you chance of breast cancer by 50%, your giving your baby antibodies that help with bulidimg their immunine system. Formula is made out of sraps like hotdogs, so its better than not feeding your baby, but breast milk is always best!

do you have any preferences @fulltimemommy ? pros cons? like are there ever times where your baby won't take the bottle?

Since i started on here,all i seen was "your supply will drop if you pump first","its recommended to wait until 3 weeks to pump"...well i didnt have a choice. my baby was in NICU so i had to pump first. the day he came home,i had to use a nipple shield to try to breastfeed(said that use of nipple shields will drop supply). it hurt like HELL. i didnt try again when we got home,i pumped. i tried again later on and i really did enjoy it,but i went back to pumping. i probably started putting him to breast more often when he was probably 2 1/2 months. he was born in september,on january 1 of this year,i tried without the nipple shield and it was a great success,but i went a couple of weeks with sore nipples. during my journey of breastfeeding,my supply didnt drop not once until April and that was due to my birth control pills. From April until the end of May,i struggled trying to increase my supply but nothing worked. now im in the middle of drying up.

Just like how every baby is different,every mother is different. Just because one had great success with breastfeeding,that doesnt mean the next wont.some moms go their entire breastfeeding journey pumping and their supply not drop. Its all up to you. its alot to read but i hope u understand where im coming from.

Honestly I enjoy breastfeeding. Sometimes his latch hurts but once I fix that it's fine.

He gets more when I breastfeed also, when I pump I only get 2 ounces at a time. And the milk is only good for so long in the fridge and only good for an hour after he starts drinking the bottle. So if it doesnt get used or eaten it has to be dumped out. I do pump in case we are out and about but breastfeeding just seems easier. It's tiring at night but even pumping you have to do every two/three hours.

My baby stopped latching after I brought her home from the hospital. I ended up just pumping and feeding for about 6 months. It was a lot cheaper than the formula, but it is very time consuming.

Thanks for sharing ladies! and@kdcmommy26 I do hope your little one is doing better now and I'm sorry to hear your little one was in the NICU! Right now since I'm so far away from my due date and so early on in my pregnancy now I'm researching like crazy to find out what method is best/better.

thanks. he passed meconium.if you ever met him,you would think he was never in there lol...i did the same thing when i found out i was pregnant..with breastfeeding,the baby does get more than with pumped milk. pumping doesnt tell your true amount of milk..pumping is very time consuming though..some babies will empty your breasts.unlike mine,breast and bottle,he's always took in no more than 2 oz.he ate around the clock,there was no eating every 2 or 3 hours...hoping and praying,when you do have your baby,he/she doesnt go into NICU.if not,the nurses wont give u a pump,they will try to get u to breastfeed..i think that will help you make up your mind. from the start,i wanted to breastfeed and then pump so other people could feed him...people say bottles will cause nipple confusion.but like i said before,every baby is different.my baby started out on bottles..he didnt get nipple confusion until he turned 7 months.

I love breastfeeding. It's uncomfortable at first, but if you can make it the first few weeks, you got it girl. Sometimes it's stressful, but so so worth it when their big ol eyes are staring at you with a big milky grin. ❤❤❤❤

I was nervous to breast feed too but so far everything is coming along fine. baby latched on good at birth and my milk supply came in good. I hope you have a good experience as well😊

actually pumping early gives more of a chance of over supply...I would try and latch baby...it's not wierd ..it's natural m

@rawwrdinoox, breastfeeding is beautiful, a great bond for you and baby. If u want to pump, I wouldn't recommend it for the first 3 weeks. Dad can do other things to bond with baby, like changing diapers and get up at night to bring you the baby :)

my son had a really hard time latching on to me until we started using bottles. he latches great now and he has a bottle with dad before bed every night:)
