most pointless midwife appointment ever, was in the room 5 minutes, had blood pressure done and…

she refused and Said even if I hadn't felt babies she would send me to hospital rather than do it. I'm pleased I won't see her again xx

that can't be right surely? I had a heartbeat check at my 18 week check and we were in there about 30 minutes. she gave us loads of information about classes and labour and everything. That's a little shocking actually :-/ xx

my Mil was disgusted! she wanted us in and out!! I asked her to check the heartbeats and she said they wasn't allowed anymore as it stressed mothers out more? xx

my midwife didn't check the heartbeat once in my last pregnancy

It all depends on the midwife you get and what hospital they are with. My midwife said some will check routinely and some don't

Thats ridiculous she was probably just a lazy miserable woman!!

my midwife didn't check at my first appt as she said it was too early (it was before my 12 week scan) she said they don't check until at least 11 weeks but she waits til about 15-16 weeks as the baby is so small then it can be hard to pick up and the mothers get very worried if they can't find it. I got it checked at my appt after though as baby was much bigger and she's checked the heart rate at every appt since.

I was told of be kept an eye on due to mmc amd miscarriage and because my sister recently had a still born the day after a growth scan which at the time of the scan everything was normal. I know all midwifes are different but they should be more sensitive! the fact she didn't even ask how I am is pretty shit. my blood pressure was 110/50 which apparently is low but she hasn't said that to me, I've had to research it!!!

I only got to hear the heartbeat in the hospital due to a little bleed and I was 20 weeks. Then heard again at 22 weeks with midwife, but it was like 2 seconds long that she checked for. they told me they don't do it before 20 weeks as they aren't guaranteed to be able to hear properly and panics mums. But it's panicked me also having to wait so long to hear☹️ I don't like how it's all done, it's pretty scary especially for first time mums

my midwife checked babies heartbeat at 16weeks. i think its ridiculous that they dont check. how do they know if something is wrong if they dont check?

@noobii, I actually rang the community midwife center and she was disgusted at the way I was treat, she apologised on the other midwifes behalf and said I should have had the heartbeats checked. xx

have they arranged an appointment to check it? because they bloody should do xx
