@krstokes2016, I understand completely. I avoided meds this pregnancy, but I remember how I was after my first was born and didn't want to risk it being worse by not treating what's already there, ya know?

@zaysmomma I mentioned in my first comment that PPD can start earlier than 2 weeks pp. Then you replied about baby only being a week old, and I told you more specifically when it can start. I was expounding on my earlier comment.

@zaysmomma, research shows PPD can start as early as 48 hr pp. I did mention ^^ it can start earlier. If that wasn't the case, then why would my OB discuss putting me back on meds right after my baby was born? Because I'm at risk for developing PPD myself. She was already asking the standard questions to determine if it was beginning in the hospital. I'm only commenting because someone could see that and not seek help.

@zaysmomma, no, your doctor would tell her that. PPD typically starts about 2 weeks after birth, but it can start sooner. Idk why your doctor would say that, but it's not accurate. Sure, baby blues are more common, but with a previous history of depression, it's very possible that she could have PPD.

Talk to your doctor hon. You can make a plan together about how to cope. And if you can, talk to your husband about it-extra support can definitely help. Good luck hon.

@zaysmomma, well, that's not exactly how you know the difference between them. PPD is more intense than baby blues and can begin as early as 1 week pp, if I remember correctly.

My doctor told me the first 40 days are more of just the baby blues. Every mom cries the first week.. If it continues after then than its ppd
