Can I still pump and give my baby my breast milk if my throat is hurting?
Yes, but that is true for anyone, 104 or higher is a dangerous fever, but it does NOT effect your milk in any way, and as long as you tell the hospital that you are breastfeeding they will give you medications that are SAFE to take while breastfeeding and won't effect the baby. So keep calm and latch on, and go to the doctor if your fever is THAT high 😉
@hellosweetie, I read my release papers and they said if my fever is more than 104 then I should go to the hospital
Ugh I've been sore throat, cough, congestion, 103 fever for 3 to 4 days kind if sick 6 TIMES in the last 9 months since having my daughter...she is exclusively breastfed and has NEVER been sick besides an unrelated stomach upset with slight fever that literally lasted for ONE DAY and was gone the next! Nursing a baby while sick actually helps keep them protected because immunities are sent to the baby through you 😊
Yep. I had a 103 temp. Just wash hands/use hand sanitizer a lot and avoid kissing/touching babies hands and face is what I did.
Yes. I had the flu and my doc told me to continue bf'ing. Your milk gives them a strong immune system.
Your BF told you not to? I'm just telling you what I did and what my pediatrician told me and did my own research. Do what's comfy for you love. Feel better
@nurseriri, my bfs ain't told me not to feed the baby when I am sick especially with a fever I have been getting on and off lately
@lisamarie1022, I was sick with the cold for 3 days last week and continued breastfeeding. It is recommended to continue it provides antibodies and loads of immunity to baby although mom is sick. The milk changes to accommodate and protect baby. Ethan never got sick from me. And I fed him more although I felt like crap. Just washed hands constantly
No worries mama, I hope you get better quickly and take care of yourself! We all worry about our babies more than ourselves but you can't take care of your lil one if you don't take care of yourself!
