I'm almost 19 weeks and have gained about 20lbs. My doctor says I'm gaining too much. Should I be worried???
I gains 65 with my first baby was only 5 pounds 7 oz. had to get a c section due to preclampsia. If I decide to get pregnant again I know for sure I will not be eating like I did my first pregnancy, and I will be exercising a lot more, avoid gestational diabetes & preclampsia, because let me tell you it is easy to gain and oh so DIFFICULT to lose! I am still trying to get rid of the last 20 pounds 7 months pp just watch what you eat, but still treat yourself just in smaller quantities (:
Your doctor is likely saying that because you'll gain the majority of your weight after you hit 30 weeks. I swear I was cursed. I gained 65 with my girl 12 years ago. I gained 60 with my boy 2 years ago. And I gained 40 with my boy 8 months ago. Each time, I ate better and exercised more, but with my last baby, I ate nearly perfect and exercises 6 days a week and still gained 40. It comes off as long as you eat smart and continue exercising after they're born, but yeah, it is quite ego-blowing when your doc says crap like that. I'd deny myself all the treats, sweets, snacks, and high calorie crap foods my family was eating and I'd eat so freaking clean and count my calories and macros, and I'd go in sure I was doing great and I'd gain too much. I had the worst anxiety ever over my weight when I was pregnant and my husband was so pissed at my doctor for it. Just do what you can, try to stay healthy and consistent, and have a plan in place for that 6 week PP appt when you're cleared to start working out again!
I'd just do some exercise (nothing crazy and definitely ease into it if you aren't used to it) and try to eat healthy with one to two treats per week :) drink tons of water and make sure you get plenty of rest (as much as a preggo can!)
thanks!
