she prescribed it "just because" you can also call tricare like I did and be told that breast pumps are covered by insurance. wic gives pumps if you go back to work. but luckily I'm a stay at home mommy. I have my medela pump in style advanced double electric breast pump, retails at $400, and tricare paid for it.

@williams15, My husband is active duty as well but in the Navy & I'm his spouse. Did your doctor prescribe you a pump because you were going back to work or just because? I have a Medela double electric pump in style but we had to pay for it out of our own pocket.

no. my husband is active. I'm his spouse. not military affiliated aside from being married to my husband. all my expenses were paid. and I got a double electric medela breast pump for free. my doctor wrote a prescription. I had my son almost 6 months ago @mummm

I heard breast pumps were only covered if you are active military not spouses. @williams15 Tricare covered all expenses for my pregnancy OB visits, delivery (only paid $40), follow ups, & I only pay $10 for BC.

my medi-cal took FOREVER to kick in when I became pregnant. I was so stressed out from being told every other visit that I was uninsured and they couldn't do my test/ultrasound because of it. every time I called or went into the office, no one had an explanation for why it was taking so long.... finally when I was 8.5 months pregnant, my medi-cal WENT THROUGH!!! I couldn't believe it, such a relief.

I have good insurance, but I also have a a $1500 deductible and the doctors office wanted that paid prior to my delivery. I went on a payment plan to start paying it off. With all the labs and visits that I had to do I met the deductible pretty quick but it was something I wasn't expecting to have to pay for

thank god my husband is army. tricare covered everything for my pregnancy, delivery, breast pump, and follow ups, including my birth control.

Defiantly make sure if you are high risk your high risk doctor is constantly sending arrival letters for the testing and ultrasounds you need done. If you don't you will get the ENTIRE medical bill... Not fun.

The state insurance in Wisconsin is amazing! it covers everything and I haven't had any problems with finding a dr who takes the insurance. I haven't had any co-pays either. I'm so glad I qualify for it!

Our insurance is insane even before having a baby added to it! We pay $950 per month for just my husband and I! And during pre-registration at the hospital they informed me I will need to pay a $2000 co-pay when I come in to deliver the baby with no option for a payment plan!!! 😳😳😳 I just can't believe how much we pay per month and then still have such huge co-pays!

My insurance had been amazing they work with me through the whole process if something goes wrong they gave me options but I never really had any issues

I got on Medicaid when I had to leave my job after going on pelvic bed rest early on in my pregnancy. Medicaid is freaking great haha, I haven't had to pay a dime for anything

We use Tricare because I'm in the military. It's great, it covers everything. Only $200 a month for the whole family.

No issues with my health insurance. I work at a major NYC hospital and I'm covered 100% and my son falls under me and is also covered 100%. If God forbid something happens to me his dad is his secondary insurance and he's also 100% covered. Was able to stay out on leave 51/2 months and insurance kept current. @preggie_usa

hubby is a trucker, he makes to much for state ins. they want $1000 premium. That's hard when he only makes 4000-6000 a month before bills and food. I had ins when I was pregnant with my daughter because I got it before I was married. now I am 21 weeks with my son and have yet to get any.

My daughter is under tricare which is military insurance and it's great! It covers everything! Any issue Kyla had, tricare covered it!

My insurance was super easy! I work at the University of KY and have their insurance. It paid 100% of everything and now my baby is on my plan so she's 100% coverage. Only negative aspect is I had to return to work after 12 weeks!

Ha. Medicaid has been a huge disappointment. My son is 5 weeks old. He's been to the ped. 3 times. Each time my husband has had to call them to verify that he's covered. And each time they change something that messes up for the next time. 2 weeks ago they approved my husband for Medicaid instead of my son and this week they called saying that the visits were not covered because they had my son as being born on 6/1 instead of 5/3.
