Question: Why did you chose to formula feed? (NO HATE) this is just an honest question, I'll be breastfeeding if baby allows, but just want to hear why other women chose to formula feed.

I never produced enough milk... I tried everything and nothing would increase my supply... I would get maybe an ounce a day if I was lucky... (That's with pumping and breastfeeding) I was heartbroken for a few days and cried a lot because I felt like a failure to my baby girl... I talked to her pediatrician and she said some women just don't produce enough milk no matter what.... So she's been on formula for a few days and she seems so much more content now that she's getting her belly full...

I had major complications to my c-section (almost bled out) so it took me almost two weeks for my body to start producing, and I still don't make enough to to keep up with my little guys appetite, so we do a mix of breast and formula.

I went into labor not knowing which one I was going to end up doing. She got hungry almost right away and I just did what I felt after going through 31 hours of labor. 1.5 of that was straight, hard pushing. Plus I have to have surgery on my gall bladder very soon and am on antidepressants. I personally don't feel comfortable with breast feeding while on antidepressants, no matter what anyone tried to tell me. And with surgery, I don't feel like I could do it while trying to recover from that and having the baby. So, there was a couple different factors, but overall I just did what I was comfortable doing when the time came.

For me, with my first, we both got very sick and my doctor told me I could take sudaphed and that's a HUGE no-no but being 17 and not knowing I took it and lost all my milk. My daughter got thrush at 2 weeks because we both have a really weird PH balance, and it took me 2 weeks to convince the doctor it was thrush even though I didn't have it and by the time we got and switched medication to one that worked it was too late. I went from producing 14oz to not even 3 in 2 day to not even getting 1 a day later....

My insurance wouldn't cover it and WIC always came up with excuses. But it's ok. Hoping when I'm ready to have baby number two I'll be more prepared when it comes to breastfeeding. @ftm2babyc

insurance has to give you one, its because of Obama care. that's how I got mine @babynessa because I have no money for that, WIC should have provided you with one that's crazy @babynessa

I never had the money to buy a pump before my baby was born and WIC wouldn't provide me with one. Even by the time I had money to get one it was too late. My milk was dried up.

@ftm2babyc, it is hard but we find a way to make it work. we are trying to figure it all out and still learning. @babynessa, Parker and I had the same problem but then once I started him with a bottle his latch got so much better.

did you ever try to pump? @babynessa or did that just not work out either, I bet that was hard seeing your baby cry like that

My baby wouldn't latch on. I tried and tried and she would get so angry and just cry for hours straight. To the point to where I would just sit and cry and feel like I failed her. I cried to a few doctors and nurses before giving my daughter her first formula bottle. Once I did she turned into such a happy baby which made me feel so much better as a mother.

if you wanted to fully breastfeed I'm sure that's frustrating. @lilmommy93

I do a little bit of both. my supply is still crazy and can't decide what it wants to do.. so I breastfeed throughout the day and then before bed I pump and give him 4 oz with 2 oz simlac to last through the night.

I chose to formula feed because of my schedule. I'm a midwife so allowing me to pump for hours out of the day was way to difficult for me. I also wasn't able to produce enough milk to satisfy my son.

My daughter has a severe allergy to the milk protein and even being 17 months old had to watch what she eats and drinks
