I had two seizures related to my pregnancy. I am no longer pregnant. my doctor has taken me off of antiseizure medications 2 weeks postpartum. I was told I would not be able to drive for 6-9 months BUT I don't have a seizure condition and every doctor I've seen said I won't have another. I have to get back to my normal life. in the state of Georgia would my DL # be suspended were I pulled over?

@jennyrose1145, if there's a safety risk then I think the doctor contacts the patient or maybe even the dmv directly. I don't remember how it works unfortunately. There are clauses in HIPAA for those situations.

@jennyrose1145, it is now 6 weeks postpartum and I have not yet received something telling me that my liscense is suspended.

I wouldn't think that the dr would be allowed to tell anyone cause of hippa laws, you could get in trouble if something happens and someone finds out. The bmv would send you something if the suspend your license.

Possibly. Even with no actual condition, it's standard for them to tell you absolutely no driving for at least 6 months any time you've had a seizure (or even just loss of consciousness for some docs).

either that or it would show up on your record if they ran your name. I have a friend who is going thru the 6 month wait now as well. sorry for your situation but it's not worth the risk of getting slapped with a driving with suspended license charge. good luck
