I have quite awhile before my baby is here but I'm pretty set on exclusively pumping and I have a few reasons but my Dr looks at me crazy when I say I won't be nursing. anyone else exclusively pump and have some advice or tips?
I only pump , I have no problem with milk my baby was in the nicu so the nurses wouldn't let me breastfeed , so now it's a fight to try to get him on the boob which I'm not going to stress him or me out over something I can make easy . and if I do feel like I'm not getting enough milk I'll let pump every 15 mins for a little while.
For the first month I breastfed only and then slowly began pumping. Now at 5 months we mostly pump and have two early morning breastfeeding sessions. I definitely would suggest breastfeeding exclusively first to establish supply and slowly integrate the pump. 😊. Good luck!
I will give you some information that you can find yourself, but the baby saliva is what helps produce the milk the best, and it also signals to your body how to create the milk perfectly for you baby like for an example like when sick it has more antibodies. A lot of people do exclusively pump however many do breast-feed in the very beginning just to get their supply up. I highly suggest you to at least try to breast-feed for the first six weeks to guarantee that your supply will be there. You will have more success that way. Lastly, I also recommend breast-feeding in general because like I mentioned before the saliva is important. And the bond is so nice. Good luck. :)
my sister in law exclusively pumped and started pumping blood. her Dr said that it was something to do with the fact that there was no suction from the baby and it was messing with her body.
