I've now gone past the point of being bothered if I offend or upset anyone as they need to realise this is my baby, don't get me wrong I am happy that they are wanting to help but they also know how independent I am and how much I want to show I can do it by myself, I love them buying little bits like clothes and teddys but have made it very clear that me and my OH we're going to buy the big bits we needed, my MIL currently isn't talking to me as she didn't like my decision but so be it, it's my child and she was trying to be way too involved xxx

Yeah, tell them how you feel. I did. After the pram I was like right.... People need to chill out! 😂🙈 I blamed hormones but it wasn't. It worked though, everyone calmed down until I found the gender out. Even then I was like right I'm ordering this so no one attempt to get it. Still ended up with 2 rooms worth of stuff for my little man though! People can't help themselves. Which is nice and I'm grateful for everything but doesn't stop it being annoying xx

My MIL was the same, she wanted to buy everything for my LO then got annoyed at me when I brought the things myself, she wanted to buy the pram and chose an awful one, luckily I already had one but I get where your coming from with difficult family members xxx

I am unbelievably grateful for all the time, money and effort I just wish I felt more involved.

@chaitea, it's reasurring some one else sees my perspective cause I think my partner reckons I have gone mad haha.

I am only away to turn 18 weeks on Thursday so they didn't have much longer to wait, you right they are trying to help and are obviously excited but I am too and wanted all the things to match and for the room to be all cute and to swoon over cradles for ages before picking silly but it's just part of being a first time mum.

Yeah just know what you mean. I prefer to get things myself. When I was 11 weeks my mil ordered our pram! Although I'm so grateful, I was like ahhh! She got the one I loved but I could have changed my mind. I also felt awful as it's my parents first grandchild and they had wanted to buy the pram, (my mils 5th grandchild) but it's fine now. Just was abit ah and out of my control and abit frustrating xx

awww i see what you mean. that sounds super frustrating! id be annoyed at that because its all part of the fun choosing what you like, colours to go with everything etc. i guess they are trying to help but stepping over the mark a bit hey. im 16wks and havent bought a single thing, trying to put it off til after 20week scan x

like family members have picked out our rocking cradle but we haven't seen it, and are buying Moses baskets for their house when we haven't even gotten things for ourselves and being pestered to get saving for buying but we don't know what others have bought. It's difficult to explain but I thought I would get to browse all these things myself and take time to pick them but feeling a tad left out. We also made it clear we didn't want to buy big things till after 20 week scan but no one has listened. we ourselves have only bought 2 clothing items. xx

i dont quite understand what you mean love. did someone give you a bunch of stuff and you feel left out as you havent been able to go shopping for things yourself?xx
