Anyone have trouble introducing their new baby to their dog???
That actually makes sense, there is a noise that I make for her. Thank you so much, I'm going to try it when she gets home, I sent her to my brothers last night for the night lol
you need to claim your baby... Ik that sounds weird but try this. put the baby somewhere safe.. have someone hold her or in the crib... stand between the dog and her. do not hold her back that gets them more excited. when she tries to go up to the baby use your legs to block her and make a noise that means no like a shoosh sound. do this until she calms down (her laying down is the best) when she's calm sit down and keep repeating. she will get the hint
@bianca_rose, thank you! good luck getting your dog to adjust...just give it time...I'm sure it'll work eventually! ❤
That is so cute @tiffrae I hope it ends up working out the same way here, this is so stressful
@josy, we have 2 pitbulls, the 7 mo old is a boy and he has been so good with the baby! Very protective of her, wants to lay wherever she is being held, looks for her and then just licks her hair lol but it's our 20 mo old girl that's got us worried. (Read my respond above to see how she's acting) she is the sweetest dog, not people or animal aggressive at all so I'm assuming it's just excitement but makes me super nervous to even try to bring them close. I'm hoping it goes better tonight, I had my brother take her last night because it was my first night home from hospital and I didn't have the energy to deal with it
@nicolekayo07, that is the sweetest pic!!! I wish we would've done the blanket thing, but I don't know that it would've mattered the way she's being
@mommy2be711, I'm hoping it's just excitement but it's like a crazed excitement, hard to explain. There's this Yelp that she does that she keeps doing while we're holding her back and she's trying to jump away from us to get closer to the baby. We were trying to slowly bring her closer but every time she gets too close she starts lunging at her. My SO was holding the baby last night and my brother was making sure nothing happened and the dog went to my SO and was biting on his shorts but then kind of bit his leg (not a bite bite but nipped him) so we put her back in the crate. She's the sweetest dog so it's so weird. She's 20 mos, our 7 mo old puppy is a boy and he's been amazing with baby, licked her and wants to lay on the floor wherever she is being held
I'm worried too. I have an 8 month American bulldog( he is big and very active) . I don't know how to do this. he plays outside and he sleeps inside. he is basically in the house and I he is housebroken. I just don't know how to transition home with the baby and the dog. he sleeps by my bed at night too. I was thinking that I have to move him to a different room before the baby comes.
I know how you feel but with my cat.. My cat hated our baby at first she hissed at him any time she got close to him.. It scared me so badly but now she just stares at him and doesn't really react at all
Ugh, we just came home with the baby and it's not going good @mommy2be711
before you go home had someone take a baby blanket that the. baby. has. used and take it home. don't let the dog play with it or anything just let him sniff it... I heard that's the best method and that's what I will be doing
I hope it helps keep me updated
