Do any other breastfeeding mamas get reaaally weak, shakey, light headed and feel like they are gonna pass out when they wait too long to eat?? I haven't eaten since breakfast and it's really bad right now, waiting for my food to heat up in the oven and nursing baby girl and I feel horrible.....it's even hard to type with my hands shaking so bad!!! I have had this problem a few times before I was pregnant, all through pregnancy it was so bad I had to stop working (although it didn't even get better with food during pregnancy), and since breastfeeding for the past 9 months it has been super bad....I am worried that my blood sugar is dropping and that I am diabetic but all my blood tests during pregnancy checked out....

Well if it happens when you don't eat then your blood sugar is probably low. But that doesn't necessarily mean you're diabetic.

Thanks for answering, that's what I am scared of! I also noticed that my heart has palpitations when it happens, too, and sometimes I feel kinda numb on my hands, feet or face.....it is scary! My mom is diabetic, so I am so scared I will be, too.....do you have experience on this? Should I be concerned enough to get a doctor to run fasting blood tests?? @carterclaytonb

If it gets better when you eat I wouldn't be too concerned. Especially since you're breastfeeding that takes a lot of nutrients from your body. So you should actually be taking in extra calories.

Of course if you feel it's not right then you should at least call a doctor.

I have tried eating sometimes that's the answer not always. I've been seen by the doctor and a specialist. I got told girls faint and doctors don't know why. I financially afford to have the battery of heart tests ran. the first time it happened at work (I work in the medical field) I had nurses surrounding me hooking me up to monitors. my blood sugar was fine my pulse dropped to like ten. they didn't have a ekg machine handy. I was told by my doctor my body acted like I was having a heart attack without having one. they send me home with a heart monitor. the cardiologist said I was fine. frankly I can't afford to medically persue this. it's just scary and frustrating because when I feel that way I have to sit down. if I don't I fall down. and that makes working more stressful.

That is crazy! I have experienced this same symptoms for years, and it got worse during pregnancy....I went to the hospital once for it and had to stop working after that because all they could say, along with my own OBGYN was that "it happens to pregnant women and they don't know why" 😑 I had an EKG at the hospital, but only after waiting aroumd for HOURS in my hospital bed, and they did it while I rested, even though I told them the symptoms presented when I was standing or walking around. My OBGYN wanted to send me to a cardiologist, but never did because my insurance didn't cover it. I now live in a different state and have free healthcare (called accchs, it's like medi-cal for Arizona lol), so I am thinking of seeing if I can take fully advantage of it and get this handled. I want them to do a stress test on me, because my symptoms most often present when I am being active, under stress, and/or haven't eaten for a while. I just ate over an hour ago, right after I posted this and I am still feeling weak, shakey and my heart is beating faster or having "palpitations"....sitting helps but sometimes even then I can randomly feel this way even while resting or lying down!!! Last time I went to the gym was year ago, long before my baby (I was small but I wanted to increase my endurance, it lasted for about 2 weeks lol), I was trying to jog on a low setting on the treadmill and had to stop because the heart rate monitor on it said I was 200 bmp!!! It scared me and I immediately sat down with my head between my knees and breathed until it stopped beating so hard and fast......it's scary, and I want a better explanation than "it just happens" 😡 thanks for sharing your experience @jadestarlight and thanks @carterclaytonb for the advice, I am going to try and look more into this!

I get shakey and light headed if I don't eat. My hands will start to shake sometimes or I start feeling naseous. I don't know why it's like that since I've been breastfeeding my daughter. I try to eat something small and see if I feel better. Sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn't. Other times I'll eat and then lay down to relax till I start feeling better. I hope you can find out what's happening with you. @hellosweetie

That is so weird! I hope we all figure this out instead of "we don't know why it happens"!

It's weird. I've passed out before during my second pregnancy and even when I wasn't pregnant when I was in my early 20s. I've never been explained to what caused it even at the ER. Crazy what some of us women go through with no explanation of the reason why it happens to us. I would for sure take advantage of using your insurance to see if they can find a cause @hellosweetie
