I kinda feel like I am going into this breastfeeding thing blind. I know I can get a pump through insurance, and I plan to bf as long as possible, understanding that I'll need to pump as I prepare to go back to work. Some questions:
1. Should I buy the same brand bottles as the pump? Or do you pump into the little bags?

2. Store in the little bags in the freezer. Thaw/heat in the bottle?

3. If any brand, what is your preferred? Plastic? Glass?

4. Do you need the sterilizer? Does it make life way easier?

I want to put some bottles on my registry, but I feel a bit overwhelmed with all of the choices. Some guidance is much appreciated! Thanks!

Not necessary to buy same brand bottles as pump since a lot of bottles have adapters so you can pump directly into those bottles. Target brand up and up freezer bags are the best price and quality! You just thaw out the bag in warm/room temp water and then transfer to a bottle. I know all this can be overwhelming but don't worry you will get the hang of it all soon!!

@sam.g, no prob! Hope it helps! Also I recommend hot cloth massages on your boobs prior to each feeding and ice packs and lanolin for your nipples after each feeding. It really helps with the pain the first few weeks until it goes away!

1. I recommend buying 1 each of a few types of breastfeeding friendly bottles and then a bunch of milk storage bags. Your pump should come with 2 bottles to pump into if it's a double pump. I use those then pour the milk into bags to freeze. The bottles come in handy for when you use your frozen milk supply but if you are EBF you won't need a ton of bottles. I have 2 or 3 that I got as samples.

2. We defrost the bags in our tommee tippee bottle/pouch warmer. I've also used hot water and placed the pouch in that before

3. The free ones we use (on the rare occasion I can't be home to feed her and hubby needs to) are avent and I'm not a big fan. I've heard good things about tommee tippee and we will probably get those for when I go back to work.

4. Honestly I've sterilized everything once by way of washing then boiling. I think it's a waste. After the first time I just wash them.
