first day back home from the hospital. my husband handed me my baby to feed him because I feed him every 2 hours or whenever he gets hungry. my mil has the freaking guts to say, umm he just thinks he hungry, if he was fed at 4 he shouldn't be hungry. it's 6 now. don't tell me when my baby is hungry or not you aren't the one feeding him! 😠😠 I seriously feel like while we live here she's going to parent my child

Are you breastfeeding? If so, there is no such thing as "he can't be hungry" lol because breastfed babies eat on demand, when they want, however long they want! That's how it's supposed to be in order for good supply! Even formula fed babies should be eating if they are hungry! I think the general rule is 1 hour per oz so if a newborn is fed 2 oz then every 2 hours is actually recommended! Either way, don't pay not attention to your in laws and just repeat: This is what works for us, this is what our doctor told us, this is our choice....things like that and they will get the hint eventually lol

You're right. Nurses at my hospital said baby's tummies don't have a timer, so if they're hungry, feed them. They said that idea of keeping them on certain eating times is an old idea.

@hellosweetie, @kat616 yeah the nurse and doctor and my obgyn (he's the one who did my c section) have all said to feed him between 2 and 3 hours and let him have as much as he can eat
