Praying I'm not getting sick! My throat hurts and itches so badly. I just keep coughing. I took some Allegra to see if it might be allergies. Plus, I'm going to gargle with warm salt water. I've done so good in 4 months with not getting sick when everyone in my family was getting all kinds of sickness that was going around. I thought both Kendra and I were safe since I was breastfeeding her.
I hope Kendra doesn't get it. My fiancé is sick too. I'm thinking great timing since he took vacation days off next week from work for us to go up north to relax and to check out a wedding venue. Hopefully this will be gone before we leave @tristan-makes-5
You should be good. With Allegra you take once every 12 hours. Just continue latching your son on and he will keep your supply up. When I did the research on it it didn't say anything about lowering the milk supply. Kendras still been eating fine and getting full since I took it this morning @tristan-makes-5
i had the same thing about 3 months ago and it sucked the baby didn't get it thankfully now my allergies are driving me crazy and was thinking about taking some benadryl but im woried it will make my milk go down@azmommy85
No, Allegra is safe to take for allergies if you're breastfeeding. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. I'm getting sick and found out it wasn't allergies like I hoped it would be. My throats still itchy even after gargling with salt water and taking the allergy medicine. This sucks big time. I loathe being sick. Hot tea and honey here I come @tristan-makes-5
I am the same with my girl, she never had any bottles or even pacifiers, only booby! Unfortunately I had my first pp period around 2.5 to 3 months, and yes...I had cramping and bloating and thought for one scary ass week that maybe I was pregnant again already, but then she showed up and I was relieved and hesrtbroken at the same time lol I wasn't ready for another baby yet but omg I wish my period hadn't come back! It's different for everyone, some women get it back right away even though they breastfeed and some don't get any until they stop breastfeeding altogether, which could be for 2 to 3 years or more! It just depends on hormone levels and how your body handles them, apparently my body decided breastfeeding wasn't a good enough excuse to stop ovulating, thus my period lol......when it first started though it skipped a few months at a time for a while...first was 2.5 to 3 months pp, then 5 months, then 7, then 7.5 (yea that sucked lol), then 8.5 recently....so it took almost 6 months just to get regular, hopefully if yours comes back now you'll get long breaks like that too!
Oh and keep up on water intake! Could also add gatorade to the mix for electrolytes
Oh noooooo!!! Girl I had that a few months ago, my throat itched like crazy day one....day two sore throat from hell and fever so bad I was shaking and aching and hurting so bad......it sucked, my fever was 103 and lasted for 3 days before breaking, and the cough and congestion stuck around for weeks I swear.....I REALLY hope you don't get what I had!!!!! Just make sure to take care of yourself, eat extra healthy (chicken noodle soup for the wiiin lol), keep taking your prenatals if you aren't already, and stay away from cough and cold medicines, because it can lower your supply....pickle juice helps your throat a lot because of the salt and vinager, honey and lemon in tea or warm water soothes, cough drops are okay and hard candies.....hot showers or steam for congestion, and saline nasal spray, or if you're down to try breastmilk in place of saline works wonders! Haven't tried it myself yet though lol
Today I'm having really bad cramps. I've been ebf-ing my daughter for 4 months. Just straight always latching her on no bottles or anything and haven't had AF. This is the first time I've had any cramping that feels like I'm about to start or it'll come real soon. Is that what happened to you or have you always had AF show up every month? I'm all worried about cramping now since I haven't had no symptoms or signs any other month @hellosweetie
That's good that it's protecting her. Whatever I'm getting is saucking big time. This constantly itchy throat, coughing and congestion is kicking my butt already. I hope it doesn't get worse within a few days. I had plans for a small vacation next week and can't afford to be sick 🙁 @hellosweetie
Hahaha no, breastfeeding helps a lot keeping baby protected and also helps them get over it quicker if they do get sick....but it isn't magic, and doesn't protect mama! I have been sick 5 times with bad fevers since I had my girl 9 months ago!!! My daughter has never been sick though! She had an upset stomach at 7 months and ran a low grade fever for ONE DAY and that was it, I think she put someting gross in her mouth cuz she was teething though....the way the breastfeeding protection works is your body passes on immunities from you to the milk, thus baby gets all the immunities to things you've had or come across. Also, when the baby gets in contact with an illness, when they nurse they kind of backwash some saliva into the breast as they suckle, where it is analysed, and your breastmilk will change and send more antibodies tailored to whatever is going on with the baby, which is why many babies who breastfeed either don't get sick or they get over it a lot quicker! It really is amazing stuff! Rest assured that your lil one is being protected, and even if she gets sick will get a lot of help getting over it 😄 don't stop nursing while you are sick, it's actually better for her!
o.k. thanks hope you feel better and kendra don't get it.@azmommy85,
