ok so i have a question, its kinda a touchy subject and im not looking for a debate its just a ? but how many moms smoked ciggs during pregnancy and did it cause any complications ?
my mother smoked with all 6 of us kids. no problems... all of us were full term and over 7 pounds. my sister smoked with all 5 of hers... one had asthma and that's it... I'm not saying I'm proud of it... I have tried many times to quit but I am still smoking and so far he's healthy as can be.
my fiances mother smoked with his sister she was born at 28 weeks obviously stayed in the nicu for a long time with trouble breathing shes 16 now still with asthma problems. i stopped smoking 2 weeks after i found out i was pregnant its definetly been hard because my fiance smokes but not around me i just think its not fair to smoke while pregnant i see it like your making the choice for your kid to be exposed to cigs because they cant physically speak for themself why should we make that choice for them. i know its definetly hard to quit i still crave them but i almost wish i would have never picked the habit up its a hard one to put down.
I didn't find out I was pregnant with my daughter until I was 24 weeks so I basically smoked regularly until I was 6 months and just occasionally after I found out. My daughter is 5. She weighed 8lbs 10oz, had a high Apgar, and has never had any issues with asthma or anything else. She's now 5 and 4 feet tall and 61 lbs. I'm not saying it's good, and I could have just got lucky, but I did smoke
i smoked with my 2nd child. she was term and weighed 8lbs. she does have asthma but it's associated with allergies. my Dr at the time said you have to weight the risk.. the stress in baby or smoking
My mom smoked until she found out she was pregnant with me (around the 4-4 1/2 month mark), I'm not sure when or if she stopped upon finding out, but as a result of it I ended up being born at around 28 weeks at 2 lbs 8.5 oz. after they stopped me from being born earlier than that twice (I was supposed to be born on Christmas and came October 4th) and I wasn't breathing on my own, and suffer from asthma as a result also.
