Should Toddlers Wear Bikinis? Exploring Parental Concerns

I feel the same hun. From a young age my mum has always made me aware of the fact that there are adults in the world you cannot trust (perverts & paedophiles) . Told me not to speak to strangers etc. The way I look at it is that you never know who is watching and unfortunately, we have to worry about these things. I couldn't imagine someone sexualising my child because of her outfit that I chose x

I always find it so weird seeing little girls in bikinis!!

@charlene27815, @sweetsesame @laylalou I'm glad people agree :) I recently had this conversation with my mum and she said theres nothing wrong with little girls wearing bikinis... in fact I remember wearing them when I was younger! the thought makes me cringe now! xx

I'm my opinion I don't agree with babies wearing them but I think they can look sweet when they are toddlers, however I would only put my little girl in one if we were in the garden or a swimming baths, when I was younger I used to wear them around age 4 but always had a top on over so I think I'll be doing that with my little girl xxx

I think I'll keep my little girl in a swimming costume until she is about 4 then put her in bikini pants and a top probably as a lot of other girls have said, you never know who's watching :/ xxx

My daughter is now 8 and desperate to have a bikini and I'm finding it hard to explain why she can't. I don't want to ruin her innocence 🙈 @briony1994 @laylalou

Aww bless her, why don't you try telling her that her skin is still too delicate and you don't want her tummy to burn? @sweetsesame xxx

That wouldn't work 😞 because she had eczema and the sun is a great remedy for her! So she's always in dress to get arms and back of legs exposed 🙈 @briony1994 I may try to find another way to explain it

@sweetsesame, maybe try telling her bikinis are for grown ups? or maybe get one and let her wear it in the garden but no where else? xx

I've got two daughters, aged 1&2 and I would never in a million years put a bikini on them, not so much because I think there 'sexual' but my girls are small and always moving about and I just know the top would ride up and there little chest would be exposed and I wouldn't be very comfortable with that. xxx

Yeah just the garden should settle her with a little kaftan on 😊
