it took my newborn 2 days to latch into 1 boob without a shield. it helps if your nipple has pulled out some [if it has the shape of the sheild without the sheild). i also used a syringe filled with milk i pumped so while he was trying to latch i would squirt milk in so he knew he was doing the right thing and motivate him to keep trying. it took 2 more days for him to latch on the right side. babys position makes a difference too. if you are big breasted, football position works best until you get the hang of feeding

I just kept trying without sometimes she would latch on for a second but I would express milk then try to latch her so she taste the milk first. I kept trying and eventually she stop using the shield

just play with it around her mouth and wait till she us really hungry where she is fighting to put your nipple in her mouth she will get it
