I did it with both my kids they kinda made their own up only I understood around 18 months but I highly recommend it and will be using it with this one as well .. It helped with meltdowns and helped us to communicate before they could talk .. U will also hear myths about delayed speech it's crap don't believe it . As long as u say the words when they sign back they are still learning to talk don't use it without speaking obviously
I started with my daughter but as she learned she would only sign instead of speak, same with my nephew and we feel like he started talking late because of it. Once we started only talking to him is when he became verbal.
My best friends parents are both deaf so we taught our daughter how to sign and defiantly will be teaching our son. Makes life so easy when you are brushing your teeth and your child is trying to talk to you (yes this happens a lot) or when you are trying to get onto your child in public but not trying to make a scene.
Do it! It's a good way for them to communicate. I work in a daycare and some of my babies doing and it is so easier because I can't understand what they're saying so they just sign it. I'm going to do it with my baby as well
I am going to teach my son as early as possible! my nieces all learned it very very early and doing so they were able to communicate when they were hungry, or tired or scared and even when they had pottied ! it saved my SIL and them a lot of frustration lol
