Someone please explain something to me! When I go for a massage, it's 65$ for an hour. OK, I paid for the service, so why at the end am I being asked if I want to leave gratuity?? Maybe I'm missing something, but I just literally paid 65$ for the massage, they need a tip too?? Why? (Honest question, I'm not trying to be a jerk, I leave gratuity, I just don't get why?)

my "future" mil is a massage therapist but the reason you tip is because your paying the company for their service they dont see all of that, they dont even see half plus their spending their time on you, making sure you feel good by the end of it. but when she does house calls she does great deals and doesnt expect a tip because she gets all of it because shes going on her own time.
@twinscomingsoon, i make 1$ more than that and I serve people, and would never expect or ask for a tip! I live of what I make, if I want more, I get a better job. McDonald's employees make min wage, we don't tip them... I just can't seem to wrap my head around it, that's all! I know, I'm thinking into it way too much.
A lot of the time the people giving massages pay a rent fee to work there kind of like hair dressers. Out of the 65$ they probably get less than 50%. So the tip is 100% theirs. People don't realize how little income there is in that business that's why the "happy endings" get offered to men. They make better tips. Like servers. Getting paid 9$ an hour to serve. They make shit. People live off tips.
@kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom, a happy ending. 😂😂 I personally don't mind tipping, just plain curiosity and my brain working overtime! We go to massage envy and have a membership, otherwise they would cost more! I have to look to see the difference though.
My husband works in security, acts like an asshole half the time and people still tip him. Lol. I don't get it. I wish I could get a 65$ massage... We have "Asian massage" (not sure what that means, but I don't want to be asked if I want a happy ending). That's the cheapest places we have though. Everywhere else is expensive.

Because everyone wants tips. Hell, I work in housekeeping and I had NO idea people tip housekeepers. It's like a "thank you for doing a good job" type thing. I tip people who give me massages. I guess it's out of politeness? I feel like I'm obligated to do it.

I guess they don't get paid enough like restaurant workers. I felt the same way when getting my eyebrows waxed with benefit. $35 for eyebrows plus a gratituty tip!
called hr at my job to find out about paid maternity leave. they basically told me I'm ineligible for a paid leave (short term disability) but that I can do a "job protection" leave that's unpaid and I have to use my vacation hours. this is exactly why I will not be returning to taco bell after I have this baby! been working there for almost 3 years, been a manager for almost a year, and I have to use vacation hours for maternity leave!?
