How do you ladies feel about a baby getting her ears pierced? My friend got her daughters ears pierced and she's 2 months old. My daughter is 3 months old and I can't help but think how adorable she would look. What are some pros and cons of piercing their ears so young? At what age did you pierce your daughter's ears? And did you do it at Clair's, Walmart, or if neither... Where?
No problem. I don't know if all pediatrician offices do. but mine does and I agree for a baby that felt like the best option.
@jozell01, aww! Thanks for letting me know. I bet he looked so cute though!! I think we're going to wait for now until further notice :)
@mommyofacountryboy, good to know! I'll definitely take that into consideration. I definitely don't want her to have any complications! Her health always comes first.
@cajunpeach89, wow I had no idea the pediatrician's office does that! Sounds like the safest choice. I'm going to ask them at her next check up. I hope they do it too. Thank you so much!
@tinushja84, hubby also thinks we should wait until she is 6 months. So I'll be taking that into consideration!!
he was 3 months . he didn't cry at all but afterwards he kept trying to pull it out so I kept gloves on him for the first week after getting it done
Some baby's do really well others not so much. Me & my sister had them repriced every year somtimes more then once due to it getting infected. Even though they was cleaned & real gold. So I wouldn't do my baby's ears do to that. I still have that issues with my ears getting infected if I don't take them out everyday for a few days
Mine were pierced at 2 mos and I'll have my daughters done around then as well. I'm having someone come to my house and do it
My daughter was 4 months and we got hers done at her pediatrician office.
I agree with @miicat I'll let my daughter decide if she wants her ears pierced or not! That's how my mom did with me!
I got my daughter's ears pierced when she 7+months at Clair . she cried a litter and i bought her a doll and she stopped crying😇🤗😗 I honestly think isn't a good idea to Pierce their ears before they turn 6months. with everything else going on don't add another pain to their body .
I don't want to do something like that to my child when they have no say it's their body I'll wait for them to be old enough to make a choice for themselves.
@jozell01, good to know!! How old was he when you did it? And were his ears sore afterwards? Did he cry a lot during and after?
I got my sons ear Pierced at piercing pagoda I had no problems with his piercing just make sure you clean it twice a day for the recommended 6 weeks
@rylannsmommy2016, okay! When you get them done post pics so I can see how cute she looks 😍
@ashsloan, Thank you so much! I would of never thought Clair's and Walmart were so unsanitary. Well, Walmart yeah 😷 lol. But I'm glad you let me know about Clair's. I'll start looking into tattoo shops now!!
@babyolive, yes a piercing shop or tattoo shop that also does piercings it will be so much more sterile, than Claire's or Walmart because their guns are not sterile their piercing stations aren't cleaned and sterilized after each piercing. In a shop they have rules they have to abide by to stay open and certified. They have to sterilize each station after each use, they have to use sterile needles and sterile jewelry, Claire's does not.
@ashsloan, like a tattoo shop? I was skeptical of going to Walmart haha. But now that you mention that, I'm nervous about going to Clair's too!
Get it done at a shop if your choose to do it. The people who pierce ears at Claire's and Walmart ect. Have no training in piercing ears. Also piercing with a gun can cause the piercing to not heal properly or even not heal at all. Get it done in a shop with trained professionals, sterile needles, and surgical steel grade earrings, the grade of earring you get at Claire's, ect. Often get rusty, corroded and can cause infections.
Not many cons other than the pain. I've heard of babies having little to no reaction. My daughter was about 3 months or so when I got hers done. I waited until she was getting whiny for her bottle. Went in and got them done. Then immediately handed her off to my sister to give her a bottle so I could pay. She cried for only the amount of time it took for her to do the second ear. As soon as that bottle hit her mouth, she was fine. After the feeding I gave her something for the pain just in case and we've never had an issue. That little they can't really play with their ears and cause an infection.
