I had my daughter 2 weeks ago on Thursday and she is EBF. is it bad to pump once a week just in case I have to leave her with someone for any reason?

That's a good idea, just keep it in the freezer!

You're really not suppose to pump until baby is 1 month at the most if you're EBF because it can cause oversupply which is very painful and can create many other issues 😁

I know which is why I only do it once a week, just in case. I don't do it everyday or after every feeding. @sev1226

@lalamichelle0707, you can do both but it's highly recommended to wait 1 month at least to start pumping if you're also breastfeeding. It's obviously different if you're only pumping. The baby tells your body how much milk to make for its needs, which takes about a month to develop. And it sends babies are born with small stomachs it's a gradual buildup throughout the month. If you pump and breast-feed during the first month your body thinks that your baby needs more milk than it actually does which can cause oversupply resulting in extremely painful breasts and baby not being able to latch or milk coming out too much or too fast for the baby to handle plus other issues… I know a lot of mothers do you both very early on you just have to be very careful...
