Being a single mom in Illinois can become more difficult. Lawmakers are pushing house bill 6064 which faces a rules committee meeting today that says if a father isn't listed on a newborns certificate the certificate will not be issued for the child and any future financial assistance will be denied.
of there is a safety issue, when you deliver here, they ask you will it be safe for you and baby to return home? if you say no, they offer you all kinds of safety procedures ( restraining orders, etc) but you have to have proof of this safety problem with the child's father. (if he says he will harm you or baby, your home, etc)
wait a minute... IM NOT SAYING ITS THE LADIES HERE, but I myself live in Illinois, and I think the point is, some women go out, get knocked up, know who the daddy is, and won't allow them in their child's life and then get assistance through the state. I knknow a few ppl who have done this on purpose. it may be so the Father's have a way of being in their child's life regardless of what the mother wants. I know ppl who keep having kids they can't take care of just for state assistance so their lazy asses don't have to work...
that's a load of bs , some people purposely Dont list the father due to the safety rights of your child now that's like forcing us mothers to have to interact with the father no matter what
@motheroftwojk, If the bill passes then he has to be listed or else you will not be issued a birth certificate or qualify for any future financial assistance but this only in Illinois so far.
Wow
