social security office is where you need to go you show them the marriage license you paid for not the one they give you at the city. once you receive your new social security card with your husband's last name you can get your DL updated. Once you have all of that you can change your name on insurance everything

just take your original marriage license to the social security office and they will change it didn't cost me anything when I did it about 2 months ago only thing I paid was for a new license.. ugh then after I had to change my bank my credit cards my health insurance cards everything.. oh and w4 but haven't done that yet

It's $11 in Texas to update your license, whether it be address and/name. Social Security is 100% free throughout the United States.

Take the marriage certificate to the DMV and they will change your drivers license, then go to social security office with a completed application. Banks will accept your marriage certificate and temp license to change your name with them.

I never had to do paperwork wen t to courthouse got married and just showed it to social sercurity to change the name on the card and no one said anything

Haha! My husband is just as lazy as I am about it lol Plus he is the one who lost the paperwork in the first place.. replacing it just seems impossible which is hilarious considering we live so close to the courthouse! Trust me, unless you wait as long as we have, you are all good :p
