Is it necessary to start baby food at 6 months? I mean I know it's to get the baby used to solid food, but is that it? Have any of you waited? If so, when did you introduce it?
@henrysmommy, My daughters doctor said that baby cereal is useless so we didnt touch it. Then just recently I think the past 6 months it was scientifically proven cereal is useless. Empty calories just to keep the baby full but thats not good. Starts obesity in children young. Though it is all up to the mother and baby. Whatever is best for you two. This was what was best for my daughter and I and we were happy. Now with our son on his way we plan to do the same thing we did before.
I've been thinking about waiting till 8-10 months @mommabearto2 and even skipping cereal, going straight to vegetables.
@tatiananoelani nice ! yeah, sure need to start from vegetables it's better :) I right now thinking maybe start from cereal 😶
I gave her home made soup with mashed up veggies at 3 months. It was pretty watered down so she could drink it better from a spoon and she loved it. Once she hit around 4 months I gave her little pieces of steamed veggies. @oladushek
@oladushek, my babies are going to be 4 months on the 12th, and they're the same way! They eat so much, so probably within the next few weeks I'm going to introduce baby foods, probably like peas or something simple. I was told vegetables first because if they try fruit first all they're going to want is sweet stuff

My son is 4 months old and I haven't done it yet. I'm not sure if I want to start at 6 months or not @oladushek
guys it's really important topic for me right now. i'm lucky to see this post) coz my son 4 month and he growing so faster😶 and really I think he's ready for food. formula starting not enough for him I think. and when I'm eat he look at me and want to eat in that moment with me haha
so I wanna start now😮 @henrysmommy @anap1012 what first you gave it to your daughter?
Really???? I thought it would be the other way around! @mommabearto2
I started my baby at 4 months.. I didn't give her baby food every day though. my doctor said if they are ready, go for it! the signs are 1) can sit in the highchair, 2) doesn't push the spoon out 3) wants to eat when you eat (notices other people eating)
No medical reasons other than her doctor said it's best to wait to introduce foods. He also said babies only need breast milk for the first year and after that they need more like solid foods. He also said the longer you Wait the less likely she will have issues with food allergies. She has no food allergies. We also waited till she was 2 to introduce honey, peanuts, chocolate or any candy. My main reason for it was I didn't want to panic and have to take my baby to the er for an allergic reaction. I did breast milk by breast. Tried pumping with a manual and it was awful so we just did boobie.
Was there a medical reason, or did you just want to wait that long? How long did you feed breast milk? Were there any problems during the first year?
We waited with our daughter until she was 12 months. Up until then nothing but breast milk. She is now 7 and eats everything including fish.
It's to help them learn to use utensils and help them chew as well. I know some kids over a year that don't know how to use a spoon, or even eat some soft foods, and they have teeth!
Idk maybe it's just a Hispanic thing but it's customary to introduce foods at 3 months. With my son I waited until he was 6 months to give him real food but to me that was a mistake. He's such a picky eater and I blame it on that. With my daughter I have her homemade baby food at 3 months. She's almost 8 months now and she will ANYTHING you give her. They say to wait so the baby's stomach mature and be able to digest the food well. But my daughter is fine lol
