My daughter is only a week old, she would latch right at the beginning but now she's just latching to my nipple. how can I get her to latch the areola some and not just my nipple?

She's so young too so keep at it. It's the first couple weeks that are the absolute worst. But keep at it! It's worth it

Yeah sounds like a bad latch. Just unlatch her, as painful as that is, and try again. When my nipples hurt, I put a ton of coconut oil on them between feedings. And I'd ice them too. Take care of those nips girl and keep trying for a wide latch.

Yeah its painful for the first min and my nipple hurts like crazy even when I'm not feeding.. @haileybuttons

To get her to latch onto more, tickle her bottom lip with your nipple to make her open her mouth wider then press her whole body against yours. Is it painful when she's latching?

My son has been exclusively breastfeeding for 6 months now.. His mouth just shuts around the nipple and his lips are like against my areola.
