So I got this new job.. and yesterday was my first day. As soon as I got the chance, I told my manager how I've already got a plane ticket (which can't be refunded) home for my baby shower (which is already planned) back in Utah where all my family is and plan to return to work as fast as possible. And this is what she said... Following my reply, she said that she understood, but she still won't approve it... I'm so pissed... What would you girls do?!?!
(Side note: was in the ER last night and that's why I'm not working today)
Seriously you guys... I told her about the time I needed as soon as i possibly could! She was making nasty comments about the times I needed off for my baby appointments too. It's illegal to discriminate against pregnant women in the workplace and I swear if I can get any more hard evidence against her, I will take her ass to court. Regardless if I worked there a day or 5 years. Last night I was in the ER over a pregnancy induced kidney stone. The hospital faxed over a paper saying I need to rest for a couple days. She started bitching about that too. I will not be disrespected. And that's that. So we'll see how this goes.
I don't know what kind of work you do, but I've always told my new bosses either on Day 1 or after accepting the offer about any time off I have already scheduled prior to working there. Have never had anyone say it's not approved. Seems like an employer that won't be flexible at all in the future.
That's really unfortunate. I hope you find a better company to work for that is more understanding because I would definitely quit..it's fucked up especially because you just started yesterday...she shouldn't have approved so many prior leave requests especially if she was going to be undermanned...
