When should I get a breast pump? 🤔 My insurance covers it but I'm not sure when to get it.

Every state is different. my insurance is never on the lists on those sites

@killxj0y, @arivera64 hey ladies, I got my pump at about 20 weeks. I used this site www.breastpumps.aeroflowinc.com/ They verified my insurance (Medicaid) and emailed me a day later with options of pumps. I got my pump about 2 days after I replied

yes. Tell them you plan to breastfeed and would like a pump. They'll give you the paper. pack it in your hospital bag and give it to the doctor after the birth or the next day when they check on you

@arivera64, yes I do get WIC, I just had an appointment the other day & we scheduled an appointment for June 3rd (I'm due May 25th) but told me to call as soon as the baby is born. Should I go in & get the paper that way there's no delay when the baby is born?

Do you get wic too? If not, you should. You automatically qualify since you have state insurance.

Wic gave me a paper that the doctor had to sign saying that i had the baby and i need a pump. The doctor faxes it to the insurance. Then the insurance orders it and has it mailed.

oh i have medicaid too. i went thru wic (same process)

i had the baby, the doc took the paper in the hospital, then my pump came via ups a day or 2 after i got home

@arivera64, yeah I was thinking about that too. But if there's a wait for it ya know I definitely want to be prepared! Better to have it earlier than wait & not have it when I need it.

Yeah definitely ask the doctor. Unless the baby is being born early, there usually isnt a huge rush to get the pump because they dont expect mom to pump until supply of milk is established after a few days to a week

I got mine in the hospital when I had my daughter.

you're insurance usually will send it after the birth. The doc faxes a script over.

You should order it ASAP, but most places don't send you one until 30 days before your due date :)
