All babies are different in how much they gain, sometimes they take a bit longer to get back up to birth weight, and it sounds like your lil one had trouble because of jaundice. How many times is baby peeing per day? If it's at least 5 or 6 times per day, you should be producing plenty. Sometimes they may act hungry still or want to nurse for HOURS every hour lol but it doesn't mean you're not producing enough! If baby is peeing enough, I would suggest letting the baby stay latched on each breast for as long as they want, switch breasts when baby unlatches, and keep at it like that until the baby seems satisfied! Your breasts never "run out" of milk throughout the day, so just keep switching and nursing as much as baby wants to, and this frequent "cluster feeding" WILL boost your supply up within days. I wouldn't give the baby ANY formula unless the doctor instructs you to, because every time you give the baby formula, that is telling your body not to produce more because baby is getting enough. It is supply on demand, so the more you feed the baby at the breast, the more you will make. Also try and avoid pumps for as long as you can, because they do NOT get as much milk as the baby does, and if your supply isn't well established yet it can definitely be a supply killer! If you have any questions please let me know. You are not a failure, you just don't have the support you need! Just be patient, let that baby nurse as often as it likes, and you'll get through this! It sounds as though your lil one is in a growth spurt, they act like they're STARVING when this happens lol and just know that the MAJORITY of women have the ability to produce PLENTY for their babies, but FAR too many misjudge based on inaccurate facts and think their supply is low, when in fact it isn't! Peeing enough and weight gain is the only RELIABLE way to tell if you're making enough, if baby is peeing enough then the weight gain should be close behind!!!

Hard boiled eggs, lots of water, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches will help your milk supply.. My daughter is 3 months still in newborn clothes and she eats a lot. All babies are different when it comes to eating.. Keep your head up, your doing what you can as a mommy

Now he is peeing enough. He wasn't before as he is now. He pees around 5 times. He is having trouble going poop now. He's been on my boobs since 8 this morning and won't fall asleep unless it's in his mouth. He's grown length wise but not much weight. I'm just scared 😣 @hellosweetie

Don't say that 😢 I cannot give you much advice since I haven't had my baby but I know that you have not failed as a mother. It happens to soooo many people my cousin being one of them. She even went into depression for not being able to breast feed but every human body is different. You go out of your way trying and you have came this far YOU HAVE NOT FAILED. Pump even when he's not latched. There's a lot of natural ways to help improve supply. Keep that pretty face up and keep doing what you have been doing this whole time; fighting. You got this ☺️😚

It sounds like he is on the right track now, mama! It was a slow start, but from here on out he should be gaining more. Definitely a growth spurt if all he wants is booby haha remember nursing isn't just for food, they want it for comfort through growing pains, their perspective of the world rapidly changing, to feel warm and safe with mama, to build immunities to the things around them, to quench thirst, and much, much more! Definitely your best bet is to let him have booby whenever he wants it, and you should see an improvement on weight gain soon! My girl was born 7lbs 7oz, went down to 6lbs 13oz I believe, and gained rapidly once my milk actually came in, she was 9lbs 8oz by 1 month and 12lbs by 2 months!!! Just keep in mind that your baby will be different, and he may keep getting taller and not gain too much weight too fast...as long as he's improving, peeing often and the doctor isn't worried, he should be just fine! Also don't worry so much about the poops, it's common for breastfed babies to poop either SEVERAL times a day or not at all for several days! It's the texture you should look at, at 3 weeks it should look kinda like mustard poop, be loose and maybe have little cottage cheese looking lumps LOL

No worries mama, he just wants that extra loves and AAAAALLLL the booby hahaha it sounds to me from what I've read that he should be fine now, I am not a doctor so that's onviously not 100% but as long as his doc is keeping a close eye on him and doesn't seem worried, definitely I think he's doing great, and so are you!
