how old should babies start eating cereal or baby food?

I'm breastfeeding so I'm waiting until 6mo to start baby food but most parents and doctors will say it's okay to start at 4mo.

her doctor said about 6 months, but wic gave me baby food for this month. I'm so confused lol, thank you! @carterclaytonb

I started introducing rice cereal at 4 months. Ask your doctor at the 4 months check up for the go ahead :)

I've heard that the people at WIC aren't exactly the most helpful or the smartest. I'd listen to what her doctor says.

she'll be six months in ten days, so i guess I'll start giving her the baby food! ugh, she just cut her first tooth. i hate watching my baby grow. I'm too emotional. @carterclaytonb @jessd1988

i had to start at 3 months

@youngg.mommyy, yes start with cereal, I added a little bit of pureed bananas for flavor and she loved it. I made most of her baby food it's easy and alot cheaper:)

It's less about age and more about when they can hold their head up well.
