I'm having so much trouble breathing tonight, on top of the super high bloodsugar I've been having :(
no, I actually slept most the day, I plan on calling Monday to try and make an appointment. @mommameaghann
Good! Did you call the doctor to see what they suggested?
I'm doing a little better! I upped my basal rate which seemed to help a lot. @mommameaghann
Hey @mrsdoyle hope you are doing okay!!
Baby can be a great motivation :). I have to be up in roughly 3 hours with my toddler so I'm going to get some sleep. If you are even slightly concerned you might be in DKA, please go to the ER and make sure you are drinking lots of water!! I'd really like to hear how you are feeling tomorrow if you don't mind letting me know!!! I'll have you in my thoughts and will be praying for you and baby!!
I'll have to look into it! im so tired from it all the time, I should eat healthier but can't seem to force myself to do it. @mommameaghann
It isn't for everyone, I understand. I was a noodle and sweets lover, but I couldn't handle the roller coaster of highs and lows. There are so many great low carb alternatives that I don't often feel deprived!
I don't think I could do low carb though. I love carbs to much @mommameaghann
That's exactly why I went low carb. Smaller amounts of carbs meant smaller amounts insulin and less room for error. Some day I encourage you to check out Dr. Bernstein's literature, he is a Type 1 himself and has amazing advice! It is a bit much to all take in while pregnant though.
all of my drops and rises are really fast and dramatic, they're hard to catch, I feel like im chasing my sugar everywhere. @mommameaghann
(I tend to have false lows, and don't actually fall into the 50s very often, but when I do it is a gradual drop so I can react easily enough)
my sugars run in the high 150s all the time. and I'm not a very healthy eater, which I'm sure has a lot to do with it. @mommameaghann
I didn't gain great control until I went gradually went quite low carb (wasn't encouraged by my doctors, but they are perfectly fine with it, not all are). Now I average around 70-80 with few unexplained lows and have only spiked above 110 once or twice in the past two months. Obviously it isn't necessary to go low carb, but it definitely helped me and I've been told I'm one of the most well controlled diabetic mom's my OB has ever had.
I've been diabetic for 8 years and never had good control. my doctors are all new to me right now too. so everything is extra stressful, and my doctors just make it worse! my sugars rub higher than they should all the time. @mommameaghann
I'm new to the type one diagnosis, but I've now experienced (almost) an entire pregnancy managing it. I was so overwhelmed at first but I also had no experience with insulin besides watching my Mom! I have a couple groups on Facebook that have literally been life changing for me and I'm so happy I found them early on!! Type 1 is so rare in my area that my doctors have actually lead me in the wrong direction a lot giving advice based on GD or T2, I hope you have a great medical team!!
thank you! I've been wanting to find other type one moms. I've been completely alone in all of this. @mommameaghann
Sounds good! But if you can't get it down don't wait!! I know I had to greatly increase my carb ratios and basal rates around 26 weeks as that's when resistance really kicked in for me (it is also about when I started on the pump so I could more easily make small adjustments as needed).
If you are on Facebook, I'd highly recommend joining the group "Positive Type 1 Pregnancies" I know the admin and she is fantastic, it is a really great resource all around!!
yes to both! my body just doesn't seem to want to absorb the insulin :( I'm not sure why. I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow and try to figure something out. @mommameaghann
If you are concerned I wouldn't hesitate! Have you done a site change since it started? Maybe new bottle of insulin?
yes I have and I'm on humalog with an insulin pump. I've been tempted to go the hospital just in case of dka, I've had it so many times but I don't want it to affect my daughter.
Wow that would stress me out too!!! Have you been adjusting your ratio? What fast acting are you on?
it's like my insulin is taking a long time to start working. I take insulin before I eat to get it working and I still run the high 200s for 3 hours after eating, and then it gives me ketones. I'm thinking I'm getting sick. it's giving me a lot of anxiety @mommameaghann
I have trouble breathing when I'm hyper as well :/ any idea why you are running so high? Are you responding to your correction?
We have a racist on the APP ‼️
??????October 2018 babies??????
Congratulations to everyone who have received their bfp!
You know you have children when...
You get to work and notice that your pants have smudges of unidentifiable origin from the knee down. ?
School fees
Having an intense debate on Facebook about school fees for public school. I'm in the "stop whining about school fees and stop having kids if you can't afford them" camp and there is the other camp of "free school is a constitutional right! It's bull s*** we have to pay anything at all".
We all have a different definition of “clean”🤢
Okay!
