Failed my 1 hour glucose test. I now have to do the 3 hour glucose test. Has this happened to anyone else? What should I expect? Never failed before. 😞

@kee89, if you fail the second it's no biggy. Doctor will talk to you about the many options you can take. You'll most likely go to a specialist and what not. It's nothing huge. Just monitoring and diet control. Maybe medicine to help.

I think I may be able to explain. I am a full blown diabetic. My NORMAL sugar levels are a sugar levels yours would be a hour after eating. My fasting sugar should be 70-95 my hour after eating should be 100-125. My fiancé a hour after eating something full of sugar was 82 while mine was 146. I need more insulin to take care of the sugar. And most pregnant woman develop gestational diabetes where your insulin needs a little more help. You need more. If your baby continuously takes in lots of sugar there is a high chance that once the umbilical cord is cut your baby can go into a coma due to being cut from high amounts of sugar. That's why they over load you with sugar. To see if your body is doing what it needs to. Hope that helped

I was borderline type 2 diabetic before I got pregnant, but I take my sugar everday and watch what I eat. My blood sugar is always great. Thank you for the support @darianweaver

SO many women fail the 1 hour and pass the 3 hour. They need to just do away with the 1 hour all together. Don't worry, you're not the only one and I'm sure you'll pass the 3 hour just fine! Even if you do have gestational diabetes, it is 100% okay and can be taken care of. :)

I told them I WILL NOT be taking that this time because last time I took that test I passed out after drinking the 3 hour one and blood pressure dropped very low they're going to just check my sugar each visit

I just do not understand these tests and how overloading your body with sugar is a good indicator of how your body handles an abnormal amount.... I've been monitoring mine at home with a kit I got through insurance and my ob is satisfied with this method. Good luck!
