Is anyone on WIC? What do they provide for infants? I'm not going to breast feed so I'm curious if formula is offered?
I haven't heard much about WIC but I'm scheduled to sign up tomorrow
You can always express\pump and then freeze\refrigerate it to bottle feed later. And you can always formula feed in public. Doctors really recommend at least the first two weeks breastfeed because that is where babies get ALL their first immunities. Plus if you breastfeed (or at least try to some extent) WIC gives you more food and things like that. Even breastfeeding and formula feeding, most moms I know don't get enough cans from WIC and end up having to buy formula. You should also sign up for the free samples from companies like Similac, they'll send you a few cans and coupons for formula! :)
Hmm maybe I'll look into doing both also, it's probably not going to be my favorite thing but I guess there's nutrition benefits to it..@kingdamari
I gave in decided 2 do both breastfeeding and formula because the breastfeeding counselor was basically at my throat because I didn't have a good reason not to breastfeed
Oh gosh idk what to say a good reason being why I don't want to BF now I gotta come up with something lol... For me Personal reasons I don't like my nipples touched at all lol. Two when I'm in public I don't want to be that person to make it awkward for people, three I want my hubby to feed her from time to time & not only me being relied on. Lol idk what good reason to tell them lol@kingdamari
I'm on WIC and they give you formula for that month but you also get other health foods to like beans, milk, cheese, and so on.
Ok thanks :) how long do they provide that for her? Just that first month or threw the first year?? @cilla1224 @kendrah3 @kingdamari @ninahankey
but make sure when they ask you why are you not breast feeding you have a good reason
if you decide to do both then they can provide you with a pump.
